Chapter one
hundred and sixty-nine:
Jenna had changed into a short black skirt, black leggings and a black
wife-beater shirt.

ride to the club, they were both silent. Jenna sat with her legs crossed,
silently staring out the window.
Before they paid the driver and exited the cab,

fake-ID to gain entry to the club, and

upper level peering down over the dance floor which had become a makeshift mosh
pit. He leaned both arms on the railing and watched the bodies writhe and twist
to the music. His friend’s band wasn’t that bad, they were pretty good. The
music and the lyrics were both equally dark, but it was clearly well received
by its audience.
“
He half-turned
to find Jenna approaching him from the crowd with a drink in her hands. “I’ve
been looking all over for you.” She laughed.
“Hey, I was just
standing up here to see if I could find you in the crowd. Are you having fun?”
“I’m having a
blast!” She leaned back against the railing. “I was in the mosh pit, it was
amazing.” Her skin was glazed with sweat. “You have to try it!”
“Alright,
sure.” He shrugged,
eying her drink.
Jen laughed.
“Relax, it’s water.” She held up her drink, clinking the ice cubes against the glass. “Do
you want to taste test it?”
He smiled. “I
trust you. Come on, let’s try that mosh pit.”
“Great.” She set
her drink down on the nearest table and led
She turned
around to wait for him at the bottom of the stairs, but when he walked past her
a step; she grasped his arm tightly to follow him.
He led her to
the middle of the mosh pit. “This okay?” He attempted
to shout over the music.
“What?” She
shouted back.
“Nevermind!” He laughed.
She pulled his
arms “Dance!” She instructed.
He laughed. “I
suck at dancing!”
“Just jump!” She
shouted, demonstrating by jumping up and down.
On a complete
whim, his arms circled her waist, and he kissed her lips.
Jen didn’t push
him away, but instead allowed him to kiss her gently.
