Chapter one
hundred and sixty four:
Becky woke to
the sound of the coffee maker percolating somewhere in the bus.
She would have
stayed in bed and read for a bit or tried to sleep for a little longer, but the
smell of coffee quickly drew her from her bunk and into the main living room.
Christy was
sitting at the table, shuffling cards and playing a round of solitaire.
“Good morning.”
Becky chirped. “Coffee not ready yet?”
“No, I’m waiting
for that too. Ike was up early this morning and put the coffee on.”
“Ah
good.” Becky dropped
herself into a spot at the table. “What time is it?”
“Isaac said it
was sometime after ten.”
“I slept in.
Wow… where’s Isaac now?”
“He’s shaving.
He said he wanted to get into the bathroom before
“Ahh… is anyone else up?”
“Nope
just us.”
“Not even Jen?
She’s usually up before I am.”
“Nope. Didn’t you hear them come in?”
“No. Normally I
hear everything… what happened?”
“Jen was drunk.”
“She got served
at the bar?”
“I guess so. I
don’t think they were really checking ID’s.”
“You guys weren’t
even gone that long.”
“I know. An hour
tops.” Christy shrugged. “She passed out on the couch and I helped put her in
bed, but she was completely out cold.”
“That’s weird.”
“What’s even weirder, was that she kept telling
“And she was
that loaded?”
Christy
shrugged. “I know, it didn’t make sense to me either.”
“Do you think…” Becky lowered her voice. “Do you think she maybe was
poisoned?”
“Poisoned? She
wouldn’t have acted that drunk, though right?”
“Well, look what
they did to you.” Becky pointed out. “Maybe she left her drink someplace and
someone slipped something into it.”
Christy pondered
that for a moment. “Can we talk about it later? Lets
just not tell the guys yet.”
Becky nodded. “Okay.
I’d like to talk to Jen first anyway.”
“Me
too.”

“
“I have to take
a piss!”
“Shit,
“Yup, it’s more
fun that way.”
Isaac groaned
out loud. “I’m so glad I don’t live with you anymore, you’re a pain in the ass!”
“Is that my
shaving cream?”
“No, it’s mine!
I packed it myself!”
“I’m sure this
is mine!”
Isaac groaned. “Isn’t
it entirely possible that we bought the same brand?” He walked out of the bathroom
and stood in the hall with his arms crossed over his chest. “Grow up.”
“Quit using my
stuff!”
Zac sighed and
slipped out of his bunk. “What’s going on?”
Both Isaac and
Taylor spoke at once.
Zac sighed. “
“What the hell!”
Isaac pounded on the door.
“I’m taking a
leak!” Zac shouted back.
