Chapter one
hundred and sixty five:
Around lunch
time, Jenna stumbled into the front of the bus.
She groaned
loudly and flopped onto a chair.
“You okay? Want
an aspirin?” Becky offered.
“No… I feel like
shit.”
“Honey, you look
like shit too.” Christy observed.
Jenna dropped
her head back against the back of the chair. “Thanks.”
“You drank too
much?”
“I only had one
shot… that’s nowhere near enough to get me loaded.” She protested.
“Did you leave
your drink unattended?” Becky asked, stepping away from the kitchen table
and walking over to the sofa.
“No, I don’t
think so…”
“What do you
remember?”
Jen paused for a
moment. “Not much… Why? What’s with all the questions?”
“We think… we
think it might have been those people… the ones who send us emails… you know?”
“Oh god,” Jenna
dropped her head into her hands. “Have you told anyone else?”
“Not yet.” Becky
said.
“Don’t.”
“What? Jen, we
have to!” Christy argued. “They have to know!”
“No, they don’t.”
Jen argued. “Nothing happened. Do you really think it will make a difference if
we tell them something might have happened, that didn’t?”
Becky and
Christy exchanged glances.
“Don’t tell
them. Promise me you won’t tell them.”
Christy sighed. “We
won’t.”

Zac carried his
luggage over one arm and Becky’s over the other as the walked down a narrow
hallway at the next motel.
“Zac, you don’t
have to carry my stuff! I can-“
”I got it!” He argued “Which room is ours?”
“Umm…. 426…. Right here.” She stopped and quickly opened the door with
the key she had gotten from the front desk.
Zac dropped
their bags just inside the door and collapsed into a chair.
Becky smiled. “Tired
already?”
“Exhausted. And we have a show tonight.”
“Why don’t you
nap?”
“I could try…
Will you nap with me?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Becky giggled. “Maybe,
those bunks are so uncomfortable.”
“I know.” Zac
sighed. “Next time, lets sleep on the couch.”
“Both
of us?”
He wiggled his
eyebrows again.
Becky laughed again.
“You’re insane! On a bus full of people?”
“I’m only
kidding, babe. But I’d like it if you’d nap with me.”
Becky nodded. “Okay,
sure.”
“Great!” He took
her hand and led her into the bedroom. She kicked off her shoes and sat in the
middle of the bed, folding her legs beneath her.
Zac untied his
shoes and leapt onto the bed beside her, causing her to laugh out loud again. He
wrapped his arms around her and practically wrestled her into a reclining
position.
She pushed his
hands away finally and turned her back to him. “Sleep well.” She cast over her
shoulder.
Zac grinned and put
his arms around her waist, folding his body into hers. “Sweet dreams babe.” He
softly kissed her cheek.
