Chapter one
hundred and sixty one:
When the movie
was finished, Jenna removed her laptop from her bunk and set it up on the small
table in the back lounge of the bus. Christy had gone inside to see Isaac, and
Jenna insisted she was going to take a nap, so Jimmy had left her alone and
gone inside for dinner.
She had insisted
she wasn’t feeling well, but in reality, just wanted to be left alone.
Once her
computer finished starting up, she connected to the internet and went straight
into her email. She had three emails, two of which were junk. She was about to
delete all three when she discovered a name she recognized.
She clicked the
link, and opened it.
The only words on the page were “Leave the tour, or die, bitch.”
Jenna didn’t
even notice she was holding her breath until she felt a sharp pain in the
center of her chest.
She exhaled in a
sharp gasp which startled even her. She deleted the email as quickly as she
could, removing it from the trashcan so she would never have to look at it
again.
She sat staring at her email inbox for a moment, unsure of what to do next, and
slightly afraid of where she might go.
Jenna was
suddenly interrupted by a yogurt cup being placed next to her arm on the table.
She looked at the cup, then up at the person standing next to her.
He sighed
heavily and sat down next to her. “It’s the only thing you’ve eaten in weeks.”
“That’s not
true.” Jenna said, slowly peeling back the lid so she wouldn’t have to look at
him.
”Fine, then it’s the only thing I’ve seen you eat in weeks.”
Jenna sighed. “Don’t
start this.”
“Well, when
would you like me to bring it up? Because everyone else is eating and suddenly
you’re not feeling well, and you’ve got to lie down.”
“
“No… but…”
“My point
exactly, she moved to slide out from behind the table, but couldn’t as
“You can still
tell me what’s going on, is this some sick diet you’re on? Because
it’s not healthy!”
“It’s not a
diet, and I’m not sick. I eat absolutely fine. Ask Becky and Christy.”
“I intend to.”
He paused and lost the confrontational tone in his voice. “I’m your friend too,
and you can tell me.”
“There’s nothing
to tell!” She argued. “I don’t know why we’re having this conversation.”
“Because I care
about you, and I’m worried, just like everyone else is.”
“Well, they
shouldn’t be.”
After a long
pause,
“Yeah.” She quickly closed her laptop and
followed him to the front of the bus.

Christy had
broken away from the body guard long enough to use the washroom. Or at least
that had been her excuse to leave.
Instead, she
kept walking past the washroom and into the stage area.
The boys were
about halfway through their set, and Christy weaved her way through the crowd.
She stopped in
the middle, next to the sound booth and watched the boys on stage. All three
were completely drenched in sweat, but appeared to be having a good time. She
caught Isaac’s eye and waved subtly.
His smile
widened considerably, and he moved away from the microphone to play a
solo. Christy clapped eagerly, happy
just to see him enjoying himself to such an extent.
She checked the
time on her cell phone which was clutched in her hand. She had to be back
before anyone realized she was gone.
She wandered
throughout the crowd, weaving through the groups of fans, some giving her odd
looks. She barely noticed.
Christy watched
from there, enjoying the show, and dancing slightly in place, and nearly forgot
that she was meant to be somewhere else.
When the song
finished, she quickly made her way back through the doors towards the backstage
area, smiling politely and flashing her pass at two bouncers who were standing
on either side of the door. She practically ran down the hall to the VIP room
where Becky and Jen were waiting with the bodyguard.
