Chapter one
hundred and sixty two:
Becky was busy
tidying up the bus. Since the boys had stepped on the bus, it had quickly
become a mess.
Zac had hopped
into the shower. He had been literally covered in sweat after the show, and had
needed a shower desperately.
She picked up
the shirt he had worn pinched between her index finger and thumb. She put it
back in his suitcase, and closed the lid quickly.
She heard the
shower stop, and went back into the tiny kitchenette and poured herself a cup
of tea. She sat down with the tour itinerary, and began glancing through the
multiple pages.
Christy, Isaac,
Taylor and Jen had gone to a nearby club to celebrate, Jen insisting she could
get in with her fake-id.
It was nice to
have the bus to themselves. It was quiet.
“Hey,
Becca!’ Zac said
coming into the kitchen in a pair of baggy flannel pajama bottoms and an old
t-shirt.
“Hey, what’s
with the pjs?” She asked immediately, barely looking
up. “Normally you sleep in your underwear.”
“Yeah, apparently
there’s a new rule affective this tour. There are girls on the bus, so we have
to wear pants.” He opened the fridge and removed a bottle of water.
Becky laughed. “That’s
funny.”
“Yeah, but the
best part is, now that I have to wear pants, I don’t have to wear underwear.”
Becky laughed
again. “Gross. I don’t how anyone can go without underwear.”
“Aww, damn. You just crushed my dream in life.”
She laughed and
rolled her eyes. “You’re just lucky you’re cute.”
“Yeah, why’s
that?”
She smiled. “Because otherwise I’d be offended.”

Christy was
drinking her second ice tea in a large bar in downtown
Isaac took a
swig from his second beer, and put the bottle back down.
“It was a good
show, tonight, right?” He asked.
Christy smiled. “I
only saw a bit of it, but it was really great.”
“I
know, I saw you.” He
smiled. “I’m glad you caught a whole song.”
“You saw me?”
“Of
course. I can always pick out pretty girls in the
audience. You were the prettiest one there.”
Christy laughed.
“That was such a line!”
Isaac chuckled. “Yeah,
I know. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard
“Yeah, only he
could get away with it.” With her straw, she swirled the ice tea in her glass.
“So, how come
you’re sticking to ice tea tonight?” He questioned.
She smiled. “Why?”
“Well, I just
think it’s a little weird that we’re supposed to be celebrating and you’re
drinking non-alcohol-“ He stopped suddenly in that
sentence.
“I’m not!” She
protested. “I’m definitely, definitely not pregnant!”
“You’re not. You’re
sure?”
She smiled. “I’m
positive. We’ve been careful, you know that.”
“I know.” He
nodded. “Just making sure.”
She leaned
across the table. “But maybe we should talk about this… do you think we’ll have
kids? After we’re married, of course.”
“I’ve always
dreamed of having a large family. You know? Maybe because I
grew up in such a large and close-knit family. What about you?”
“Baby, until I
met you, I never even imagined I’d be in a long term, serious relationship. Now…”
She smiled. “That’s all changed.”
“Oh…” He began
peeling the label off his beer bottle.
“No, baby, that’s
good!” She laughed and leaned forward on the table. “Now that I’ve met you, I
can’t wait to get married, and have children. I’m excited for our future
together, you know? And when we do have kids, it will be amazing.” She smiled. “I
want what you want. If you want a lot of kids, then let’s have a lot of kids.”
He looked at her
with raised eyebrows.
“I’m not
pregnant! I swear!” She laughed. “I will pee on a stick if it’ll make you feel
better.”
He laughed. “I’ll
take your word for it. I’m excited though, for this stuff. I can’t wait to
spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Aww…” She giggled. “I can’t wait either.”
“What do you say
we get back to the bus?” He finished his beer.
“Sounds
good to me.”
