Chapter one
hundred and fifty six:
Christy stood outside their hotel room door, leaning against the wall next to
their door while Isaac searched through his pockets for the key card. He
removed his wallet from his back pocket and flipped through the various cards
and papers looking for the card. She hugged his dress jacket around her
shoulders to keep warm. She had worn a strapless dress, and the night had
cooled considerably after the rain.
”I had a really amazing time.” She spoke, watching him search.
“Me
too.” He smiled at
her. “I feel badly that we can’t do this all the time, but you know with the
tour and everything…”
“I know. But I’m
glad we got to go out before the tour got hectic.”
“Me
too.” He sighed
heavily and glanced around the empty hallway. “C, are you sure I didn’t give
you the card? It’s not in your purse or anything?”
“No, I don’t
think it would fit.” She shook her head. “I think it’s
so jam packed with stuff I could barely close it.” She held up the tiny clutch
she had brought with her.
“Shit,” He
muttered, suddenly searching through the pockets of his jacket.
Christy giggled.
“Is this some kind of new foreplay I’m not aware of?’
He laughed. “I
can’t believe I’ve lost the room key.”
Christy dipped
her hands into the same pockets his hands were in. “It’s here somewhere…”
“Do you want to
wait here while I run down to the lobby-“ He stopped
in mid sentence, as she reached into the inside-breast pocket of his jacket and
removed the key.
He chuckled.
“Did you know it was there the whole time?”
“No…
process of elimination.”
He chuckled and
took the key, swiping it through the machine. “I’m a dork.”
”Yeah, but that’s why I love you.” She teased, wrapping her arms around his
body.
He chuckled, and
pulled her inside, wrapping his arms around her as well, as the door banged
closed behind them.
“I really had a
wonderful evening, baby.” She smiled wrapping her arms around his neck, “But
you really didn’t have to…”
“I know.” He
said, slowly beginning to move around, dancing her in small circles. “Just
remember tonight in a month or so from now when you’re pissed at me for being
busy with the tour and stuff.”
“I will.” She
smiled. “What are we doing? There’s no music playing.” She giggled.
“I know.” He
dipped her back, causing her to laugh harder.
He gently kissed
her lips. “I love you.”
She giggled. “I
love you too… but you’re a terrible dancer.” She teased.
“What? There’s
no music playing! That’s why!”
“Honey, even
with music playing…” She teased, breaking free of his arms.
“What? That’s it!
You’re so dead!”
“Yeah?” She asked, backing away slowly. “Gotta catch me first!” She took
off running into the bathroom, through into the bedroom, where he caught up to
her, by going straight into the bedroom. “What now?” He asked.
She shrieked
with laughter, and ran back through the bathroom and into the main room. He
cornered her on the opposite side of the sofa.
“No fair!” She
laughed. “Let me get these heels off first!” She leaned on the sofa and quickly
removed her shoes.
“Ready?” He
asked, slightly out of breath.
“Okay.” She
laughed, attempting to run around the front of the sofa, but he met her
halfway.
She took off
running in the opposite direction, and before she could make it through to the
bathroom, he caught her, and by tucking arm under her knees, he scooped her up.
She kicked her feet and laughed. “Not fair!”

In all honesty,
she had barely touched the popcorn and ate few of the skittles he had bought
her at the snack bar.
He slid a
strawberry-banana flavored frozen yogurt in front of her with a smile.
“I got you a
medium, because I heard your stomach rumbling in the car.” He teased, sitting
down with his own double chocolate fudge.
“Thank you,
“I know I didn’t
have to. I wanted to.” He shrugged. “You don’t get to get out much with the
body guard around and with being on tour and all, it’s a little crazy. And you
haven’t been out in a while.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem.”
They sat
together in silence,
“Jen?”
“Yeah?” She suddenly snapped back into focus and
looked at him.
“Everything
alright? You’re miles
away over there.”
“I’m fine.”
“Yeah,”
“What the hell
is that supposed to mean?” She demanded.
“It means that-“ He stopped himself and continued in a much calmer tone.
“It means your frozen yogurt is melting.”
“I don’t want
it.” She pushed it away.
“Jen-“
“I said I don’t
want it.” She snapped.
She nodded and
followed him out to the street to hail a cab.
