Chapter one hundred and thirty-nine:
Christy exited the Hanson’s house and stepped out into the warm
sunlight. She walked quickly across the patch of dirt which served as a parking
lot and down the flagstone path towards the small building that served as the
boys’ studio. She stepped inside the glass pane doors and was greeted by a set
of chairs, a coffee table and a series of awards and achievements that decorated
the walls of the reception area.
Isaac had shown her the studio before, but she chose to keep out; not wanting
to influence the boys’ talent in any way, if her presence had any affect at
all.
She found the first door no problem. The door had several hundred
“Do not disturb” signs from various hotels taped to the front in a sloppy
collage: most likely Zac’s handiwork.
Christy could hear a dull and rhythmic thumping of Zac’s drum kit
somewhere else in the building.
She quickly adjusted her skit, to show more leg and adjusted her
shirt and bra to show more cleavage. She knew that getting Isaac to let them go
to see a movie on their own was a long-shot. But she also knew that the best
way to be persuasive was to use what she had at her disposal.
She knocked on the door until she heard a faint grunt in reply
from Isaac inside.
Christy pushed the door open gently.
“Hi, baby. What are you doing?” She asked, entering the room
fully, and letting the door fall closed behind her.
“I’m just going over some last minute details: contracts, legal
junk and making sure we have hotels booked, stuff like that.” He replied
without looking up.
“Oh, that interesting.”
“It’s really not.”
Christy eased herself into one of the chairs across from the desk,
crossing her legs. “Are you really busy or can you take a break for a bit?”
“Uhh… well, I can take a break, can you just give me a minute to finish this this form?” He asked, picking up a pen and scribbling his
signature.
“Yeah, sure. Actually, I just wanted to talk
to you, it isn’t really that important.”
“Okay, sure.” He nodded, briefly looking up.
Christy pushed herself out of the chair and walked around the
desk, perching on the edge, facing him. “Well, Jen and Luke are having some
problems…”
“Uh-huh.”
“And I thought it would be nice for Becky and I
to take Jen out to help her feel better…”
“Okay.” He began, starting to sense where this conversation was
going.
“And I thought we could go see a movie… Just us
girls.”
He looked up and began to protest but she acted quickly and kissed him deeply.
She moved off the desk and into his lap, folding her legs around
his body.
Between kisses she muttered, “I’d love you forever and ever, if
you’d let us go… I promise to call you every hour, and we’ll be careful…
straight there and straight back…”
He kissed her for a moment longer, then
stopped. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.” He protested. “Why don’t I drive you
girls to the nearest video rental store, and you could watch movies here.”
“We want to see a new movie!” She argued.
“I know, but its just not possible. What
if I went with you? I’ll behave, you won’t even know I’m
there!” He tested.
She climbed out of his lap. “That’s not fair! It defeats the
purpose of a Girl’s night if you’re going to be there!”
“Well, why don’t you ask
“That’s not even funny!” she shouted.
Isaac sighed, irritated. “We’re doing this for your own good, you
know why!”
“Yeah well, it still sucks!”
