Chapter One
hundred and Thirty two:
After a far too early call time, getting packed up and into the
car several hours before their flight, and finally getting on the plane,
everyone had been exhausted. Several hours later, Isaac slowly woke from a
light and fitful sleep to find Christy still awake and sitting with a
calculator and a notebook on her lap.
He lifted his head. “Christy? Honey? What
are you doing?”
“Hmm? Oh, I’m just looking over some
numbers for the wedding. Your mom sent me a list of possible locations she
wants us to look at, and I’m trying to sort out which ones fit into our budget and
which ones aren’t worth our time.” She sighed, pushing her hair back out of her
face.
“Honey, don’t worry so much, okay? It’s late, and we talked about
expanding the budget if necessary…” He draped an arm around her shoulders.
“I know, and I love you for that.” She smiled at him. “I’m just
stressed, I guess.” She rested her head on his shoulder.
“Try to sleep. I’ll go over your work and see what I can do.
Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes really helps.”
Christy smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” He smiled.
“And if it isn’t too much trouble, baby, can you put a little star
next to all the locations you’d like to look at?”
“Okay sure.” He turned the page. “Wait, C, these are all
churches…”
“Yeah…”
“And you aren’t religious.”
“I know, but remember we talked about having a traditional
wedding, and I thought a church would be a pretty and traditional place to get
married. And your family is religious…”
“Alright. But maybe we should look at some
regular banquet halls too.”
“Okay.”

Becky stuffed her carry
on into the over-head compartment and sat down with a tired sigh next to Zac.
“You okay,
Becca?” He asked, looking up from his magazine.
“I’m fine. I
just hate being cooped up on a plane for a few hours.”
“Me too… They’re
showing ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’ for the movie, though.”
Becky laughed.
“I think I’ll sleep through that.”
“What?” Zac
grinned. “That movie is a classic!”
Becky smiled. “You’re
adorable.”
“Okay, then
let’s play a game, and get our minds off the boring flight.”
Becky laughed. “You’re
crazy.”
“Come on, it’ll
be fun. Twenty Questions?”
She smiled. “I
suck at that game.”
“Okay,” He
laughed. “I spy with my little eye…”
Becky laughed.
“You’re adorable.”
“Yeah, I know.
I’m adorable and I’m irresistible to women.”
“Women? I’m not the only one in your life?” She
teased, planting her hands on her hips.
“Of course you
are! You’re the only woman in my life.” He placed a hand on her knee. “I’m only
kidding. You know I love you babe.”
“You’d better.”
She teased.
He laughed.
She turned
sideways in her seat and rested her head against the back of the chair.
“Tired?” He
asked.
Becky nodded.
“Why don’t you
nap, then? I can call the stewardess and ask for a blanket and a pillow…”
“No, Zac, it’s
okay.” She smiled. “I don’t think I could sleep even if I tried… I can never
sleep on a plane.”
“Never? Not even with your Zaccy bear next to
you?”
Becky giggled. “Zaccy
bear? When have I ever called you that?”
“Well, you could
start. Add it to the list of things you already call me…. Babe, Zac, Zaccy… sex
god.”
Becky laughed.
“Come here.” He
tapped the back of her leg, and slid her legs over his lap.
“What?” She
smiled.
“Put your head
on my shoulder, and I guarantee you’ll be asleep in twenty minutes.”
“Yeah? What do I get if I win?” She smiled.
“I’ll take you
out to dinner.”
Becky kissed his
lips. “Deal.” She rested her head on his shoulder and
curled into his body.
“You know I’ll
take you to dinner even if I win, right?”
Becky laughed.
“You don’t have to…”
“I want to. Come
on, sleep.”
