Chapter thirteen:
Christy sat down and handed Zac his chips and gave Isaac his soda.
"Thanks."
There was silence. Isaac kicked Zac.
"Thanks!" He muffled with his mouth full.
The door opened.
"Jeeze! There are a lot of girls here!"
Becky exclaimed, entering the bus.
"I know, I heard something like a thousand?"
"I'm sure you don't mind."
"As a matter of fact, I don't."
They screamed hysterically.
"Damn,
"Christy, can I talk to you?"
"Umm... sure??"
She followed him towards the bunks.
"God, will you stop?"
He pulled his head in.

Christy pulled Jenna and Becky into the front of the bus.
"Whoa, are you okay?" Becky asked.
"Yeah..."
"What'd he say?" Jenna asked.
"He-"
"Needed space?" Becky finished.
"Exactly."
"Ouch!"
Jenna flopped into a chair.
"No, not only that, but amidst all his rambling he said he really likes me
and I mean, people have said that before... but.... I think he meant it!"
"Are you serious!?"
"Yeah, I mean, oh my god!"
She jumped excitedly, trying to keep her voice down.
"Ok, Christy, be calm."
"Calm?! How can I be fucking
calm when Isaac Hanson has just said that he likes me?!"
"Two weeks ago, you barely knew who he was! Well, like, stop
jumping at least."
Christy stopped jumping, but bounced lightly in place. "What do I
do?!"
"What?"
"What do I do?! I mean, he likes me, I have to make sure it stays that
way."
"Umm..."
"Should I have sex with him?"
"I don't think that Ike is that kind of guy, Christy."
"Well....I don't what I should do then!"
"Just act like you've been acting the whole time. He didn't start to like
you because you'll have sex with him. I'm sure if you just act the way you've
been acting so far, then nothing will go wrong."
"Are you sure?"
"Sure. I mean, obviously he likes you for you and not... you know you . I mean like he obviously sees a great side of
you."
"Ok, ok, enough lectures" Becky waved her hands. "On to my Prob-"
"Her boyfriend's square and she's a whore." Jen interupted.
"Hey!"
"Alright, alright. I was just kidding."
"Look, Becky, just kiss him tonight when you go over. Sometimes guys like
it when girl's initiate the first move."
"What if he isn't ready though?"
"It's just a kiss. If he's not ready for that, what is he ready for?"

Zac returned from the concert late. They had stopped at McDonalds and at a
Starbucks to grab coffee. He found Becky in the lobby of the hotel, coming
back from the soda machine.
“Hey, Becky!” He greeted her, wrapping her in a huge bear
hug.
"Hey- ugh!! You're full of sweat!" she
pulled back laughing ‘Gross!”
"Yeah, I know. Sorry. I'm going to go change... Want to come up to my
room? We could hang out for a bit…”
”Alright.” She followed him to the elevator and stood silently waiting for
their floor. He opened the door to the hotel room he shared with
Becky
sat on the sofa while he walked into the bedroom.
He
changed his pants and pulled off his shirt, looking for a clean one.
"Becca, is my white shirt out there?" he called.
"Um...yeah. Hold on." she replied, lifting
the shirt that was draped over the back of the sofa.
She
appeared in the doorway a moment later. Seeing him without a shirt, she blushed
slightly. "Here..."
Zac took the shirt. "Thanks." he smiled. He leaned over, pecking her
cheek quickly.
She walked back into the main room, flinging her purse on the sofa, somewhat
angrily. Why was he playing with her like that?
"Whoa, that was pretty mean, what did the couch do??" He asked.
"Nothing, I'm just... having a bad day." She said through her teeth.
"What did you guys do?"
"Shopped and sat around."
"And since when do you find that a bad thing?"
"I don't know. Since now I guess." she fell onto the couch with a
heavy sigh, shoving her face into a pillow.
"Becky..." Zac kneeled down beside the couch. "What's going on?
Did I do something?"
"That's the point, you didn’t do anything."
"I don't think I understand. Please explain it."
"It's.... ugh, I can't!"
"Ok, uh... well... want to at least try to explain? Just
to help me out a little?" Zac tried.
"I just...." she sighed.
Zac gently turned her over. "'You just' what? Come on, you can tell me
anything, that's what I'm here for."
"Zac...do you like me?" She asked shyly, avoiding his gaze.
"Of course I do! I asked you out." He asked, still confused.
"Why won't you..."
"'Why won't I' what?"
"Why won't you kiss me?" She asked, finally looking up at him.
He drew in a deep breath. "Who said I wouldn't kiss you?"
"Well, no one said it, but I just...I don’t know, it seems like you don't
want to." she lowered her gaze.
"Where did you get that from?"
"I kind of put two and two together and assumed..."
"Well... it's kind of awkward..."
"That's why I'm bringing it up now."
"Oh.... well..."
"Well what?"
"Well... nothing."
"Oh." She said dejectedly.
Oh great Zacman, look at what you just did, now she thinks you hate her. Stupid,
stupid, stupid. He thought. "Becca, that isn't what I meant.
Don't go." He said watching her stand up, straighten out her skirt and
grab her purse. He took her arm. "Please?"
"What did you mean then?" she asked quietly.
Zac stood, standing between her and the door. "I mean.... I just....I want
to but....it's just...I..." he struggled for the proper wording.
Becky slowly lifted her head to gaze at him. "What?"
He leaned forward suddenly and kissed her at last.
