Chapter one
hundred and twenty- six:
He sighed
heavily and sat down across from her.
“I’m fucking
exhausted.” He observed.
“You look tired.
You should take a nap.” She observed, sliding the spoon back into her mouth.
“You know, this
expired ten days ago.” He raised his eyebrows and looked directly across the
table at her.
“Yeah, I know.
It has a bit of a kick to it.” She swallowed hard.
“About
what?”
“About anything;
about whatever is going on in that head of yours.”
“
He recognized
this tone and interrupted. “No, don’t jerk me around. I can tell there’s
something going on. When was the last time you ate something real?”
“What the fuck
am I doing right now?” She demanded, pointing with her spoon at the yogurt cup
in his hands.
Angerly,
Jenna pushed
herself up from the table. “I don’t have to listen to this.”
He grabbed her
arm tightly, wrapping his entire hand around her boney wrist. “No, you don’t
have to, but you damn well better.”
He continued in a gentler tone “You can die by
doing this! Do you realize that?!”
“I’m not doing
anything!” She jerked her arm away. “And fuck you!”
She ran from the
kitchen and stormed up the stairs. Minutes later, the door slammed shut.

Isaac slowly woke, sensing the new brightness in the bedroom. He opened his
eyes and shut them against the blinding sunlight shining through the windows. Turned
slightly, and felt Christy stir next to him.
He nestled
closer to her, as she moved closer to him.
“You’re awake.”
She observed, gently stroking his hair.
“Mmm… no.” he groaned, turning and nesting his face against
her neck.
“Baby.” She giggled.
He rested his
head on her shoulder. “How are you feeling?”
“Better. Not
quite normal… but much better.”
“Good. Lets just stay in bed all day.” His arms looped around her
waist.
She giggled. “But
Jen, Becky and I are supposed to go looking for bridesmaids dresses today.”
“You were? I
thought we agreed not to make any large purchases here.”
“We aren’t
buying. We’re just looking.” She smiled.
“Yeah, I know,
but after what happened the other night, do you really think it’s wise? Maybe
you should stay home today…”
“Baby, we’ve
been planning this for a week. I just finally got Jen talked into going with us
to try on dresses… Don’t make me cancel!”
“Is the body
guard going?”
“Yeah. We talked about this…”
“I’m sorry honey, I’ve been a bit distracted lately.”
“I know.” She
smiled.
“Can I come with
you?”
“Baby-“ She began.
“I know, I
know.” He sighed and sat up. “I can’t go. I’m just worried about you.”
“But I’ll be
with Jimmy and my two best friends remember?”
“Okay…” He
sighed and stood with a stretch. “I just worry about you.”
“I know you do,
baby.” She smiled up at him. “But you don’t have to. I said I was feeling
better today…”
“I know.” He
sighed. “I’m going to shower, okay?”
Christy smiled.
“I’m going to go off and look for some breakfast.”
“Alright, but
kiss me first.” He crawled across the bed and pressed his lips to hers.
She giggled and
wrapped her arms around his neck and pulling him down on top of her.
