Chapter one hundred and twenty:
Becky and Jen had managed to talk their way into Christy’s
hospital room, and they found her sitting up in bed, with the television on.
“Christy? How are you feeling?” Becky asked softly.
“I feel like shit.” Christy sighed. “And I yelled at Isaac… now I
miss him.”
“Do you want me to get him?” Jenna offered.
“No… I can’t cave yet… besides, I need you guys to fill in some gaps
for me.” Christy yawned.
“Alright…” Becky slowly eased herself into a chair. “You had
alcohol poisoning. You drank too much.”
“And I gave you the alcohol. But only two bottles.”
“I know… that’s what I don’t understand.” Christy sighed. “That’s
not enough to get me completely drunk, let alone sick.”
“Somehow two empty bottles appeared.” Becky said. “Had those
people been threatening you too?”
Christy nodded. “You think they did this?”
“I think so.” Jenna said. “Jimmy said he hadn’t heard anything.
They must have come in through a window… but I didn’t hear anything either,
until Isaac found you…”
Christy sighed. “This sucks. Now we’re never going to get any
freedom.”
“On the plus side you get to come home tomorrow…” Becky tested.
“Home to what? Bars on the damn
windows and security cameras?”
Jenna laughed. “We’ll have to see.”

Isaac leaned against the coffee machine outside the cafeteria.
He was desperate for a cup of coffee, and because it was quite
late, the cafeteria wasn’t open. He didn’t even feel like running to the
nearest star bucks for a decent coffee, so he settled for whatever came out of
the machine.
He placed the cup under the tap, inserted his dollar bill and pressed the
button.
When nothing happened, he hit the button harder.
This time it overflowed and spilled all down the front of the
machine.
“Damn it!” He cursed, but reached for a lid anyway. “Piece of shit.” He spat.
“Wow, it’s just a vending machine, Ike. What did it ever do to
you?”
“It doesn’t work right, I-“ Isaac stopped
himself and exhaled heavily. “Nothing, I’m just a little worked up.”
“That’s understandable, but Christy is going to be okay now, you
know that.”
“I do know that, but I’m still worried about her. We had a huge
fight and now she won’t let me see her.”
“That will pass. The girls are in there right now, and she’ll
probably want to see you next.”
“Yeah, okay.” Isaac took a sip of his coffee, made a sour face,
and nearly spit it back out again.
“No. I probably shouldn’t drink coffee this late anyway.” He
pitched the still full cup into the garbage.
“You still don’t think she did this on purpose do you?”
“I don’t know anymore.” Isaac sighed. “I know she probably didn’t
do it intentionally. I just can’t help but be flustered about her drinking in
the first place, and her getting threatening emails and not telling me.”
“Yeah, that’s understandable.”
“But I mean, it’s still mostly my fault.
She and mom have been planning this wedding for almost a month now, and I’ve
barely helped out at all. And I did promise to sit down with her tonight and
help, but we were in the studio… I mean, it’s my job here. I’ve got to plan our
future as a band and the future between Christy and I…”
“Yeah. Maybe you should talk to her.
Not yell at her.”
Isaac chuckled. “She just knows what gets to me, and she’s very
good at pissing people off when she wants to be.”
“No kidding, she made fun of my suspenders the other day.”
“
