Chapter one hundred and eighteen:

Becky had removed her heels in the front lobby and ran down the long hospital hallway until she found the waiting room Jenna and Taylor were in.

“What happened? Is she okay?” Becky demanded.

“We don’t know yet.” Taylor replied. “Isaac hasn’t come out yet, and we haven’t heard from a doctor or nurse.”

Jenna stood and hugged Becky tightly.

“Is it just alcohol poisoning?” Zac asked from the doorway.

“Yeah, it looks like it.” Jenna replied, wiping her eyes. “She’s been getting emails. So have I.”

Zac stepped forward suddenly and put his arm around Becky. “Have you been getting emails too, Becca?” He demanded.

“No… I don’t think so… I mean, I haven’t checked my email in a while but…. How do we even know it’s them? I mean, how does one induce an alcohol poisoning?” Becky asked, looking from Zac to Taylor and finally to Jenna.

Jenna sighed and sat down. “I gave her the alcohol.” She admitted.

Becky sighed and sat next to her best friend. “How much did you give her?”

“Only two bottles of Vodka, but I don’t understand. Taylor said she had four…”

“Well, what if someone staged it? What if they made the alcohol too pure? Can you do that?”

Jenna groaned. “I don’t know…. This is all my fault.”

“No it isn’t.” Taylor defended. “Christy chose to drink, and when she was in a weakened state of mind those… people probably took advantage of that and drugged her, okay? This is not your fault. This is no ones fault.”

“Whatever.” Jenna pushed herself out of the chair and stormed out of the room, past the confused body guard.

“Wait for me!” Becky cried, getting up and quickly following.
Becky caught up with Jenna just as they both stepped outside, into the cool night air.
Jenna plopped down on a cold bench outside the front door, and Becky stood next to her.

“Jen, come on. This is no one’s fault. You know that. She asked you for the alcohol, and you gave it to her. You didn’t poison her, those awful people did.”
Jenna sighed and buried her face in her hands. “I know… I know. I just feel bad for giving her the alcohol in the first place.”

“But you couldn’t have known…”

Jenna looked up. “Yeah, but I still don’t feel any better about it.”

“I know, I feel awful too. But she’s going to be okay. Everything is going to be fine.”

“Yeah, and we’re barely lucky that it wasn’t any worse.”

Becky pursed her lips together, not knowing how to respond to that.

“Girls?” Jimmy appeared next to them. “It’s freezing out, why don’t we go inside?”

Becky glanced at Jen who nodded. “Okay, I want to get in and see her anyway.”

“Me too.” Becky agreed.
