Chapter one hundred and seventeen:

Becky followed Zac from the cab to the front of the house, and stood patiently waiting for him to find his keys in the numerous pockets of his suit.

Becky hugged his jacket around her to keep herself warm. She felt something brush against her side, and removed Zac’s keys from the pocket. “Looking for these?” She held them up triumphantly.

“Yeah,” He laughed, reaching for them.

“Wait, you’ll have to trade me.” She held them away from his grasp.

“Trade you what, babe?” He grinned.

“You can have your keys for… a kiss.” She propositioned.

Zac chuckled. “You drive a pretty hard bargain.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.” He stepped towards her, his hands sliding around her waist.

He leaned forward and gently kissed her lips.

Becky leaned into the kiss even when he pulled away, wanting the kiss to last.

The front door jerked open and Jimmy the bodyguard stood in front of them. “There you two are! I’ve been calling you all night!”

“I turned my phone off.” Zac shrugged.

“Me too.” Becky felt a blush rise in her cheeks.

“Christy is in the hospital.”

“What?!” Becky demanded.

“What happened?” Zac asked immediately after, “Where’s Ike?”

“They think she drank too much, but from what I saw, I would say alcohol poisoning.” Jimmy said, pulling the door closed behind him.

“Jenna and Taylor are already at the hospital, Isaac went with Christy I the ambulance and I promised to drive you two when you arrived. Come on, we’ll take my car.”

Jenna was pacing back and forth in the waiting room, looking for any kind of news on Christy’s condition. The doctors had confirmed alcohol poisoning and were in the middle of pumping her stomach. Isaac had stayed at her side.

“Jesus, Jen. Will you sit down? You’re going to wear a hole in the floor.” Taylor said, looking up from the only magazine in the waiting room.

Jenna plopped down in a chair directly across from him. “She’s going to be okay, right? I mean, this is a minor thing-“

“I’m sure she’ll be fine. She’s alive, and she’s breathing again. She’s in a hospital; I think they know how to handle this.” Taylor flipped the page.

Jenna sighed heavily and dropped her head into her hands. “You don’t get it Tay. I gave her the alcohol.”

“You did?” He looked up finally. “Where did you get it?”

“Never mind where I got it, Tay! I only gave her two bottles, not four!”

“Then where did the other two come from? I was in there myself and there were at least four bottles.” Taylor set aside his magazine.

Jenna got up and crossed the room, sitting down next to him. “Promise not to tell anyone?”

“I promise I will tell someone, because when you make me promise I won’t, it gets someone in trouble.”

Jenna sighed. “Fine… I’ve been getting emails- Christy too- from those people… who were threatening us before.”

Taylor groaned out loud. “Damn it, Jen!”

“We didn’t think it was a big deal, Jimmy was there, and we didn’t think it was serious.”

“Obviously it is serious, Jen! This could have been prevented if you girls would have said something!” Taylor shouted.

“It wouldn’t have mattered! These people were just looking for an excuse, Taylor! They’re just trying to make us scared!”

“You should be scared!”

“Yeah, well you and your stupid bodyguard are obviously doing a hell of a lot to protect us then, aren’t you?”

Taylor didn’t respond.
