Chapter one hundred and nine:

Jenna returned to the house long after dark.
She had wandered the mall for hours,  and when it closed, she had no where else to go, so she wandered the streets until she decided that it was best to go home.

She got out of the cab and paid the driver, and collected her change.

She walked quickly up the path to the house. It was actually quite chilly after the sun had receded.

She unlocked the door quietly, and walked into the house, shutting the door behind her.

After fixing the alarm so it wouldn’t go off, she tip-toed into the kitchen.

She got herself a yogurt cup out of the fridge and sat down at the table with a spoon.

Jenna wasn’t even hungry, she just knew she had to eat something, and the only thing in the fridge that didn’t make her stomach turn was plain yogurt. She knew her crash diet had grown to an unhealthy level, but she couldn’t help it. She couldn’t stop now with just a few more pounds left to shed.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Taylor sauntering into the room, whistling a random song.

“Hey! Jen! There you are!”

“Here I am.” She said with mock enthusiasm.

“Everything okay?”

“Peachy.” She sighed.

“Luke has been worried sick about you, you know. He asked me about six times if I had heard from you.”

“Alright.” Jen finished the last spoonful of yogurt, and sat back in her chair.

“I take it you guys had a fight then.” He crossed the room and sat down across from her.

“Yeah. We did.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“No.” Jenna said quickly.

“You know, Jen.” He sighed. “Just because I said I had feelings for you doesn’t mean I’m not your friend anymore. We can still talk about these things.”

Jenna dropped her head into her hands. “I know, Tay… I just…” She sighed in defeat. “Luke is leaving tomorrow, and… I don’t know.”

“That’s it? There’s nothing really to talk about. It was a stupid argument, about a stupid thing.”

“It couldn’t have been that stupid if you’re fighting over it.” Taylor observed.
”I know… I’m just… I’m just going to go to bed, okay?” She pushed herself up from the table, eager to excuse herself from the conversation and jogged up the stairs.

She pushed open the door to the bedroom she was supposed to be sharing with Becky to find Luke sitting up in her bed with the light on and his book open across his chest.

Jenna smiled to herself and completely forgot about being mad at him.
She changed into her pajamas in the adjoined bathroom and removed the book from his chest, making sure to save his place.

She clicked off the light and climbed over his body, nestling into his arm and pulling the blankets around them.
