There is no direct access either from the EU or from the USA to Sakhalin. Please see below some of possible international routes to Sakhalin:
1) Via Moscow /Domodedovo/ with Aeroflot
2) Via Seoul with SAT (Sakhalin Air Trans)
3) Via Seoul with Asiana
4) Via Hokodate with SAT
5) You may also connect through Seoul via Khabarovsk or Vladivostok with SAT.
6) Via Wakkanai(Japan) with a regular ferry, which is operating from Wakkanai in Japan to Korsakov, Sakhalin Island.
The second step - access from Sakhalin to Kurilsk (Iturup Island). There are two options:
1) By air from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Burevestnik (Iturup) with SAT. Be aware that they very often delay the flights due to usual bad weather conditions in the vicinity of airport Burevestnik therefore this option is not recommended.
2) Across the Sea of Okhotsk with a regular ferry, which is operating from Korsakov (Sakhalin)to Kurilsk (Iturup Island).
