Witch Child (2000)
by Celia Rees
I at first didn't know wether or not this book was fiction or real. I know now it's fiction, but that's how real and factual it is! It's about the witch trials in the 1600's, and some characters were real people. It just makes it so incredible.
The View From Saturday (1996)
by E.L. Konigsburg
I read this book when I was in fifth grade and then read it again in 8th grade and still got the same true wonderful message from it. It was informative, taught a great lesson, and the characters are the best part. I really did grow attached to them, especially Ethan. (In fact, my computer is named after him.) I know the book is "for kids" but come on...I love it. Gimme a break.
A Patchwork Planet (1998)
by Anne Tyler
I adore Anne Tyler, and this is definitley a book I have read over and over. I keep going back to it. The style pleases me and the story is so freshening. It's simple but wonderful.
All But My Life (1957)
by Gerda Weissman Klein
This is a very powerful book about the Holocaust from a Jewish girl's point of view. It is entirely true. I enjoyed it most of all out of every holocaust book I've read because it's extremely honest, does not hold back, and the author's experience was absolutely terrible and dreadful and for her to write about is overcoming an obstacle itself. WARNING: Graphic, violent.
The Shopalic Series (2001-2005)
by Sophie Kinsella
Yeah so they're "junky easy reads": WHO CARES? I adore them. Simply. Amazing. They're wonderful to read, hilarious, and entertaining. Surprisingly suspenseful. I recommend them to everyone I know.
Dolores (2002)
by Bruce Brooks
When I first picked up this book in the library, it was short and the print was big so I thought it would be really easy. But as I read it, I realized it was complex and almost adult...it took me some time to read because I kept going back and trying to understand a certain sentiment or dilemma.
His Dark Materials Series (1990's)
by Philip Pullman
These books are amazing and complicated. They really made me think and the story is so different and so in depth I almost want to believe it.
The Harry Potter Series (1999-2005)
by JK Rowling
Alright, there's not much I can say on these since the world is obsessed. So um yeah. I adore them. Been a fan since the first year.
The Georgia Nicolson Books (2000s)
by Louise Renison
True, the newest was a bit dissapointing. But the first four were amazing and kept me laughing and expecting something different each second. I love the voice the author gives Georgia...it's so original, cynical, and hilarious.
