FERRARI 550 GTS: UNA NUOVA STELLA PER IL CAMPIONATO FIA GT 2001
The Wieth Racing track version of the Ferrari 550 Maranello, announced since the start of the 2000 GT Championship, is now ready. The name is Ferrari 550 GTS and, unlike the First Racing 550 Millennio (which you can see in the table below), has been entirely developed without the GT Racing Development support. This car will be entered into the whole 2001 FIA GT Championship and in some races of the new Kuhmo European GT Challenge organized by FPCompetition for the 2001 instead of the Kuhmo Ferrari-Porsche Challenge. The drivers will be the Wieth Racing owner Franz Wieth and his son Nico Wieth.

La versione da pista della Wieth Racing della Ferrari 550 Maranello, annunciata fin dall'inizio del Mondiale GT 2000, � ora finalmente pronta. Il suo nome � Ferrari 550 GTS e, diversamente dalla 550 Millennio della First Racing (che si pu� vedere nella tabella in basso), � stata interamente sviluppata senza il supporto della GT Racing Development. Verr� impiegata nell'intero Campionato FIA GT 2001 e in alcune gare del nuovo Challenge Europeo GT Kuhmo organizzato per il 2001 dalla FPCompetition al posto dell'attuale Kuhmo Ferrari-Porsche Challenge. I piloti saranno il fondatore della Wieth Racing Franz Wieth e suo figlio Nico Wieth.

Also on this version the displacements has been raised to 6.0l in order to develop 600 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a torque of about 65 Kgm (483 lb), something less than the 70 kgm of the Millennio. The gearbox is a six-speed sequential.

Anche su questa versione la cilindrata � stata portata a 6000 cc, in modo da sviluppare 600 CV a 6000 giri/min. ed una coppia di circa 65 Kgm, qualcosa in meno rispetto ai 70 Kgm della Millennio. Il cambio � un sequenziale a sei marce.

The intervention on the chassis has been less massive. Wieth Racing has opted for a integrated roll-bar with many possible junction-points with the suspensions. The floorpan is closed and is completed by a front and a rear diffusors. The position of the pilot is shifted toward the center of the car to have a better weight distribution. All the body-work (except for the roof) has been replaced with a carbon/kevlar one. The weight is 1100 kg with a front/rear distribution of 51:49.

L'intervento sul telaio � stato meno massiccio. La Wieth Racing ha optato per un roll-bar integrato con molti possibili punti d'attacco delle sospensioni. Il fondo � chiuso ed � completato dai diffusori anteriore e posteriore. La posizione del pilota � spostata verso il centro della vettura per migliorare la distribuzione dei pesi. Tutta la carrozzeria (eccetto il tetto) � stata sostituita da una nuova in fibra di carbonio e kevlar. Il peso � 1100 Kg con una distribuzione ant./post. di 51:49.
