727 packets of
crunchy-croutons later, all three were feeling decidedly
worse-for-wear.
"Crunchy-crouton?" The plane asked.
"NO!" Everyone chorused.
"Where are we?" Jess asked, to no one in particular.
"Flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Estimated arrival time in
England: 2 hours 24 minutes." The plane replied.
"How did Jimmy afford such a flash plane?" Hannah
wondered aloud.
"The world is full of mysteries, Hannah," Jess said,
mysteriously. "Why are we here? What is our purpose? How did
Orlando ever graduate from Guildhall?" Orlando flashed her a
scowl.
"I'm gonna eat SO MANY After Eights at this party."
Hannah said, happily. "And drink SO MUCH Strongbow. And I'm
going to stand under the mistletoe ALL NIGHT and wait for Keanu
to turn up."
"Yeah, yeah. Can we concentrate on getting home
before we decide what," Jess paused, "Or who
we're going to do there. Thanks."
There was a silence.
"Can I come?" Orlando asked, not being one to miss a
party.
"Hmm." Jess muttered.
"Well
" Hannah considered. "You would go well
with the polka-dot dress I want to wear. Yeah. Sure."
Orlando wasn't sure whether to be pleased about going to the
party or insulted that he was being used as an accessory. But,
hey, he's used to being hired to be the eye candy before (look at
LOTR). [HA! Watch the fan girls lynch the author! HA!]
Jimmy looked around in
confusion. "Hello?" He croaked.
"Hello, Jimmy!" The plane answered. Nobody else did.
"What's going on?" Jimmy looked around some more.
"We're taking you home!" Hannah lied.
"Setting co-ordinates for Tibet." The plane spoke.
"NO!" Hannah scolded the panel of the plane. "ENGLAND!"
"Setting co-ordinates for England." The plane said,
obediently. "Schuck." It added.
"No! Not Engl-" Jimmy started.
Hannah whacked him round the head again.
"Bravo." Jess concluded. "Crunchy croutons all
round!"
Hannah looked at a packet unsure. "They are very
moreish
"
The plane touched down with
a slight bump just under 2 and a half hours later.
"YEY!" Hannah leapt out the hatch and fell
several feet to the ground. "OW!"
"GEEK." Jess muttered. "It's a SEA PLANE. Most of
it's usually underwater."
Hannah picked herself up off the floor as Jess and Orlando leapt
down beside her.
"Right. Now we just have to make it to our house." Jess
said. "TAXI!"
A black cab screeched up beside them.
"Home, please." Jess requested, getting in.
"Ok, guv!" The taxi sped off with Jess and Hannah
inside and Orlando half-hanging out a back door.
The cab pulled up outside
Jess and Hannah's house.
"That'll be 729, please." The driver said.
"Oh, erm
" Jess pulled her pockets inside out and
a moth flew out.
"Have this multi-million pound Hollywood star!" Hannah
offered, kicking Orlando up the arse so he fell back into the
cab.
"Thanks!" The driver drove off.
The black cab
disappeared from view leaving Jess and Hannah staring at a rather
black and charred-looking house.
"Oh
" Said Hannah.
"I did leave the iron on." Jess sighed.
There was a dull silence.
"Oh wait
that's not our house
that's
our house!" Hannah pointed to the one next door that looked
immaculate and shiny.
"Quick! In!" Jess ran up the garden path and hurried
inside, followed shortly by Hannah. "DUST!" Jess
ordered, throwing a cloth at Hannah.
"SHOP!"
Hannah ordered, throwing a credit card at Jess.
"Ok. Cocktail sausages
toothpicked, crisps in bowls, punch glasses out
" Jess
ran around checking everything.
"Mistletoe in place
Yep! I'm done!" Hannah grinned
and went into the living room to put on some music.
"Do you think we've forgotten anything?" Jess asked,
concerned.
"Nah. It'll be FINE." Hannah put on some
Silverchair and whacked it up full blast.
Jess started pacing the floor nervously.
The doorbell rang, suddenly.
"The party's started!" Hannah whooped.
"ARRRGH!" Jess started panicking.
"Chill. It'll kick arse." Hannah assured
her, handing her a tomato juice on her way to the door.
Jess took a swig. "YEEEE-HA!" Jess
yelled.
