Text

Text type 1: Glowing - Created a new file in RGB and chose a red foreground colour. Using the Type mask tool I entered the text and filled the text in with the foreground colour using the alt+backspace key combination and saved a copy to the clipboard. From the select menu I chose >modify>border with a value of 20 and then Alt+Ctrl+D with a value of 2. A red foreground colour was then chosen to Edit>Fill the selected area and the clipboard was pasted back in. Filter>Spherize for final shape.

Text Type 2: Spherical Logo - Created a new RGB file and filled the background with black. The type tool was used to enter the text and Layer>Type>render to select text (not yet visible if foreground colour black) and then hold down Ctrl and L Click on the new text layer in the layers menu. A pale blue foreground colour was chosen along with the gradient option of chrome. Applied gradient to text (to give impression of earth and sky). Flattened image and applied Filter>Distort>Polar co-ordinates, rectangular to polar.

Text Type 3: Flaming Text Created a new file in grayscale and add text and centre it using the move tool. Apply the Filter>Pixellate>crystallise with a value around 4 to 8. Now rotate the image 90 degrees CCW and apply Filter>Stylise>Wind, from the left. Now, apply Filter>Distort>Ripple with a value around 40 to 50 with large ripples selected. Return the view to normal by choosing Image>Rotate Canvas>90 degrees CW. To apply the fiery colours: change the image to indexed colour and then choose Image>Mode>Colour table and set the drop down dialog box to 'black body', press OK to burn!

Text Type 4: Raised Text - Created a new RGB file and entered Quick mask mode. Entered vertical text and Edit>cut, Edit>paste to centre text in document. Deselected text and applied Gaussian Blur of 3.5 pixels followed by Ctrl-V. Selected the RGB channels (Ctrl -~) and chose Filter>Render>Lighting effects. Entered an Omni light type with gloss and material set to +100, exposure 0 and an ambience of 8. The texture channel Quick Mask was entered with white is high unchecked and a height of 58.
