Printing of Club Banner

 

Project Chairman -  Int. Amjad Kahn

Objective - To Create means of identifying the club at large Gathering.

 

The lack of a club banner has been a long-standing need of our club and under the guidance of or president a club banner was printed. The banner consisted of the interact emblem of the right with the wording quote; The Interact club of Isipathana college sponsored by the rotary club of Cinnamon Gardens R.I District 3220" with the college Logo on the left in a white background. The total cost of getting the banner painted was Rs.700 As the club has a banner of its own we now display it at all club events. Including club meetings.

Ice cream Stall

 

Project Chairman - Int. Gayan Seneviratne

Objective -To generate funds for future Club Community service Projects.

Venue - The School Premises.

Date - 24th 25th,26th, & 27th Of July.

Time - 8.00am to 3.00pm.

 

The Interact club of Isipathana College organized an ice cream stall at Techno Green 2000 to generate funds for the club.

Ice cream, which was purchased form "Elephant House", was sold on all four days of this event.

The Items, which were on sale, were

  1. Jumbo Jollies – Rs.10

  2. Ice Cream cups - Rs.12

  3. Ice Chocks - Rs.15

A total of Rs.10, 000 worth of Ice cream stocks were sold at this event with the total profit melting down to Rs.2200.

As a substantial amount of cash was generated from this project we consider it to be a success.

Appointment of grade representatives

 

Project Chairman – Int. Mahesh Silva

Objective - To reach out to the different age groups in our club through a member of the same and stream line the administration of the club as well as bring in a steady flow of new members to the club through out the year.

Venue - School.

 

The nominations forms were posted of the notice board. Each nominee had to have at least 2 interactors.

  1. Nominate him

  2. Second him at a special meeting

These were the guidelines and after a good number of nominations and the grade reps are as follows

The respective representatives were appointed after considering their seniority, past projects, attendance at meeting and club events. They were also interviewed by Int.Pres. M. Zahid Musafer & Int.Azaan. They were appointed on the 13th of July 2000. While they were interviewed on the 10th of July 2000. The duties of the grade rep’s are as follows,

As the grade reps are functioning exceptionally well the administration of the club has become easier and we have better participation at meetings.

Our visit to an orphanage

 

Project Chairman – Int. Ishanka Kaluarachchi

Objective - To spend time with these less-fortunate children and to survey the orphanage for shortcomings which we hope to fulfill them in the future.

Venue - lankadhara Orphanage Wellewatte.

Date - 2nd August 2000.

Time - 4.30 –9.00pm.

 

This visit to this little known orphanage proved to be fruitful. The 32members of this quaint life home greeted us with joyful faces. Most of them were abandoned and left to die.

We played cricket with the little children, and football and also treated them to dinner on this day. A total of 20 interactors from our club took part.

We also identified several shortcomings in this little known orphanage and we hope that we can concentrate our efforts towards this orphanage in such a manner that it will be completely rehabilitated by the end of the interact year 2000/2001

The interactors that took part realized who fortunate w are that we should try to help those less fortunate that our selves. Further more we also found several parts of the orphanage that needs rehabilitation and we hope to carry out projects towards rectifying them in the near future.

A workshop for the incoming board

 

Project Chairman – Int. Milan Samath

Objective - To give the incoming office bearers an idea of what Tasks lie ahead waiting for them.

Venue - The College Hall.

Date - 6th June 2000.

Time - 3.30 pm – 5.00 pm.

 

A workshop was held for the incoming office bearers of our club .The key note speakers at this event were Int. PP Saif Ramzi, Int.Cassim Farook, Int. PP. Hisham Jiffry & Int. PP. Ian Van Hoff

The Speakers addressed the gathering on the various aspects of life as an office bearer. Int. PP. Ian spoke about life as secretary& the constitution Int. PP. Saif spoke about the various aspects /interesting moments in his interactive life & how to deal with responsibility. Int. PP. Hisham spoke about the importance of example to the new board. Int. Cassim spoke about the importance of having a sense of humor the moment you take on responsibility.

At the end of the respective lectures a panel discussion was held and Int. Zahid & Int. PP. Hisham questioned the participants. As the new board is functioning extremely well I consider this project 100% Successful.

9th Installation Ceremony

 

Project Chairman – Int. Milan Samath

Objective -To introduce the new office bearers to other clubs.

Venue - College Hall.

Date - 12th July 2000.

Time - 3.00pm –5.00 pm.

 

Our club installed its 9th president and his Board for the Interact Year 2000/2001 on the above-mentioned date.

Unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances the chief guest as well as the guest of honor could not attend the ceremony.

Invitations were sent to other interact clubs 3 days prior to the installation ceremony.

Cost -

 

There were a total of 12 invitee schools at our installation ceremony a we thank all who participated.

Though participation was not brilliant the new office bearers were introduced as well as installed so we did complete the basics of an installation ceremony

E-Interact

 

Project Chairman – Int. Surange Wijeratne

Objective - To exchange Cultural material as well as get an idea of what interact is like in Australia and to interact on an international basis.

The Interact Club of Isipathana College is currently carrying out a correspondence project via the Internet with the Interact Club of. We have E – Mailed them a copy of our newsletter as well as a copy of the "Frontier".

We also have sent them various literature regarding to Sri Lank and culture as well as unto date happenings in the interact scene in Sri Lanka.We also sent them various details about our club history, and even our quarterly report along with a club photograph. We made contact with a Australian Interact Club named Moorbank Interact Club.

We also have discussed organizing a pen pal program with these clubs and very soon the whole of the R.I district 3220 will hear of the Interact Clubs of Houghston High School, USA.

We have made friends with people we have not event met yet I think that is an incredible feat of interaction.

Maintenance of a logbook

 

Project Chairman – Int. Shaad Hamid

Objective - To maintain a record of the clubs doings for the Reference of future interactors of our club.

 

The Interactors of our club realized that it would be extremely beneficiary to the future interactors of our club to know their history and under the project chairperson of Int. Milan the maintaining of a log book is being carried out.

 

Details that go into the log book are as follows -

  1. Details of the office bearers.

  2. A copy of the quarterly reports as well as the annual report.

  3. Club photographs as well as board photographs

  4. Awards received by the club/copies of awards received by its members.

  5. In-depth details of all projects carried out form the view of a third party.

  6. Telephone numbers as well as addresses of all past presidents/secretary’s

Publication of the "Green Buzz"

The interact Club of Isipathana College published its news letter the "Green Buzz" and distributed it among other clubs in the district meting held in September.
