Rules of the Isle of Anango Rules and Guidelines for Members and Gorean visitors to the Village of Anango as decreed by Hakim, Ubar, Village of Anango, and Head of House of Hakim, Anango NKZ NCZ As at 6th March '05, Urrth Reckoning General Expectations Free, not of Anango, on entry, are to seek Free Passage unless a Treaty permitting same has been signed, or this has been granted on the Citizen Page. Free are not to occupy the top left portion of the home page, which is reserved for Hakim. The drawing of steel without explicit permission is considered a gross breach of the hospitality offered, and renders visiting Free liable to death. The general expectation is that all people will behave in a way appropriate to the Gorean lifestyle. Of course, not everyone on Gor is good or honourable, however in Anango it is expected that Free Persons will act with honour. Honour is a critical part of the Gorean lifestyle. We also expect the full aspects of Gorean Life. This means the usual activities of life, as far as can be achieved online. Hakim's Word is Law, and He or His delegate will arbitrate any disputes. Slaves are to obey commands of the Free, except where these would result in the breaking of a restriction set upon them or disobedience to their Master or Mistress. Village slaves are the property of the Ubar and variation to their restrictions is at His discretion. Opening and operation of Anango Members of Anango are expected to be in Anango when they come online. Go to server Gorean Chat Server 2 from the server list. The Anango room should be selectable from the rooms list. If it is not, create a room called Anango (from any server will work) then set location as http://www.geocities.com/isle_of_anango/home Usually you will attract people within a few minutes. An open Village is a successful Village! slaves may open and be in Anango unattended provided they are competent in escape techniques. Note that slaves belonging to Anango and its' Members are able to enter the HS at any time. Specific permission to do so is not required (see also below about karta). Other Free should not use Anango if a Member of the HS is not present, and may not restrict entry to Anango slaves. In Room discussions should, by and large, confine themselves to Gorean matters. Exceptions might include when there are just two people in the room, but ideally such discussions are better in IM. IMs IM's are allowed, without specific permission, between the Free (noting if You do not know some one well, it is polite to ask), and between Free of the HomeStone and their slaves. In general, all other IM's should be requested in room. slaves may only IM when not in specific service, other than to the Free being served, or their own Master. Such IMs are to be only with people in the HomeStone unless specific permission has been granted. IM scripts are NOT accepted as a reliable record of events. Distribution of these is strongly discouraged. Safe Passage Safe Passage is NOT automatically granted to Citizens and slaves of other Gor sites. Permission must be sought and granted from the senior Free person, unless a person or city is on the safe passage list on the Members Page, including through a treaty provision. Room Tags Room tags apply in limited circumstances. When 3 warriors of Anango are present, NKZ, NMZ and NRZ are non-operative. NCZ does not apply if a Free Woman acts in a manner that is not demure, or if a visiting uncollared slave or sub acts in an inappropriate manner. Collared slaves acting inappropriately will be caged and their Masters informed. A Free Person of Anango may drop tags, if offended by the behaviour or attitude of another Free Person. In the case of dropped tags, this will be indicated in room by the words "tag XXX dropped". Specifics Many practices have grown up online, which have no basis in the books. Many of these are elaborate and stylised. We seek a simpler approach here. Greetings and Entry Much time, too much time, is spent in greeting, particularly in a busy room. Rules regarding greeting can never cover every situation, however there are some key principles. These are that:
Free Free should greet the senior Free Person in the room and, if You are not of Anango, must request safe passage. (Look to the Members of the Village list at (www.geocities.com/isle_of_anango/citizen.htm). You can then greet others, just as one would in a normal social situation. This might be a nod to one person, or a more specific inquiry to another. Greetings should be acknowledged. Slaves can then be greeted if desired, either specifically or as a group. Tal is a legitimate term of greeting from Free to Free or Free to slave (though uncommon). kajirae/kajirus Karta (brief) is required from Anango slaves on each entry to the room. Specific permission to enter is, however, not required provided a slave is not the first slave to enter the room. Karta is required from slaves visiting from other places, on each and every entry, with permission to enter sought. Slaves from elsewhere must have permission to travel from their Homestone or Master. This must be in the ID. A slave on entering should acknowledge the Free quickly and unobtrusively. (Example: Enters room, eyes attentive to each of the Free), if necessary waiting for a suitable break in activity in the room. When a Free enters, they should be acknowledged in similar fashion by slaves once the Free has greeted other Free (i.e. some clear sign of acknowledgement of Their presence). A slave must, of course, acknowledge any greetings from the Free immediately. If slaves are greeted as a group, return greetings should be kept brief. For slaves, permission is to be asked before greeting other slaves, and to greet the Free or other slaves while in service (e.g at a Master's feet). If serving, that should be completed before requesting permission to greet. Greetings by slaves should not interrupt other activity in the room, such as a dance or serve. Serves There is time for a straightforward serve and a time for an elaborate one. In a busy room, with many waiting, crisp and efficient is the style, noting the preferences of individual Masters if known. Promptness is always appreciated in a slave. (In fact, it is insisted upon). When things are quieter, or a slave is serving her own Master, a more elaborate style of serve can be used if desired. Dances Dances, on the other hand, can and are encouraged to be quite elaborate. They are both entertainment and, as well, a form of submission. Branding and Collaring The true mark of a slave is the brand, not the collar. Collars can be merely functional, or allow specific statements about ownership. They can also be decorative, showing off a prized possession. They are considered to add beauty to a girl. Although, in practice, collaring must be consensual when online, the reality of Gor is that slaves are not asked if they wish a collar, instead, Masters collar any girl they wish, who comes into their ownership. Public collarings therefore should not include any form of request to the girl (it is assumed thiIngs have been sorted out in private). A girl may also beg a collar, noting that some transfer of ownership would be required, if a girl is not Free. Collarings are not a wedding. They mark a change in ownership, and submission to a new Master (noting some Masters may wish to celebrate this). A new collar should be attached before the old one is removed, so the girl stays always in collar. In Anango, there is a process before a slave is chosen for collaring in the Home Stone. A week in observations is required. If a girl proves her worth, then she may be granted protection by Anango for a further period, perhaps 3 weeks. At the end of that time, if satisfactory to the Ubar, she may be taken into a village collar. Personal collarings are recommended only after a trial period of assignment of a Village slave with a Master or Mistress of the Homestone. Typically such shall be a minimum of 30 days. Discipline Any Free Person may discipline any slave. The key point to remember, is that slaves are someone's property. Avoid harm to the property of others. A well-trained slave will need discipline very rarely. As well, there are many forms of discipline other than physical. Physical punishment is emphasised in the books, however, again, in the context of online, this needs to be considered within the context of a consensual relationship. Tags and IDs Tags and Usernames should match, with slaves using the name given them with an underscore then the Master's initial or initials. Slaves must show their ownership, either their own Master and the HS or the HS only, as appropriate, in their ID. Any restrictions imposed by a Master or Mistress or the HS are to be shown. Date of collaring is optional. For the Free, any official position together with the location should be shown as should ownership of any personal slaves. It is appropriate for any restrictions placed on a personal slave to also appear somewhere in the Free's profile. The names of new slaves are to be advised to Hakim as soon as practicable. Silks and Dress A brief word about this. The books basically recognise 2 types - White (virgin) and Red (not virgin) although occasional other references are made. Dress (or lack thereof) of a slave is entirely up to the Owner. Overtly pornographic AVs should, however, be avoided. Grey has been used for Household slaves, and many Masters wish various colours. That is their right. Many, if not most slaves actually wear, if lucky, just a brief, provocative garment. The Free should dress in a way that would be feasible in Gor, in other words, avoid modern clothing. Free Women are to be veiled and fully clothed. Fights Anango adopts the the T5 rules for fights. The parties may, by agreement, use skills based, if desired. Fights cannot take place when one participant is BRB. Absences When leaving for a short period (1/2 ahn or less) then persons and slaves (with consent for slaves) may BRB and invert or shade AV or use AV with BRB logo. Otherwise, site should be exited and re-entered. An unexplained absence by a Master/Mistress for 7 days will lead to any personal slaves being taken in temporarily as Village slaves, though with the Owner's name retained. They can, within the period of temporary Village ownership, reclaim the slave. If no contact with the Owner occurs for 30 days, the slave will revert to Village property. A Master or Mistress returning after that time will need to petition the Village for the return of the slave. Officials of the HomeStone The following official positions exist in the HS at the present: Ubar, First Sword, Ambassator, Tax Gatherer. Duties and powers as outlined are in addition to the normal role of a Free Person to protect, defend and preserve the Homestone. A single person may have one or more official positions.
If an Official of the HomeStone expects to be absent for more than 48 hours, they should specifically delegate their duties to another, or confirm that a superior will be able to perform them. |
