| ABOUT OUR CLUB Island Karate is a 4H Organization located in Grand Isle County, Vermont that focuses on the teaching styles of Shotokan and Shorinji-Ryu karate to our youth and adults through 4H. The club was founded by Tom Meno of North Hero Vermont in 1982. Children 8 years old or older are encouraged to join to help learn discipline and leadership skills. More information ragarding the Rules of the Club can be found here. Our classes focus primarily on basics, kata, and kumite. Additionally, students with a rank of blue belt or higher may choose to train in weapons. Bo staff is the most popular, but Sai, sword, and Nunchaku are also taught on a special basis. Each year students perform at 4h events to demonstrate their karate skills. Enjoy more photos.
