Chapter 2
The Life of the Prophet s.a.w.

Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Rahiim.

The 1st Year of the Hijrah:
Rasullullah (saw) reached Quba, 3 miles from Yathrib, on Monday the 8th Rabi Al-Awwal 1 A.H. (14th year of the Prophethood or 23rd September 622 AC).
The Prophet (saw) and Abu Bakr stayed with Kulthum Bin Hadm, a hospitable chief of Amr Bin Awf tribe. The first mosque of Islam was build there (Masjidul Quba).
Then Ali joined the Prophet (saw) and Abu Bakr.
Since his destination was proper Yathrib, the Prophet (saw) left Quba. The first Friday Prayer in the history of Islam was performed at the Valley of Bani Saleem.

When everyone of the city solicited the honour to host the Prophet (saw), the Prophet (saw) let his she-camel advance and told them that he would lodge where she stops. Then the Prophet (saw) buy the plot of land owned by the 2 orphans and build a mosque there (Al-Masjidun Nabawi). The Prophet (saw) was eager to establish a new Muslim Community.

The 2nd Year of the Hijrah:
The permission to fight those who waged war againts the Muslims was given, 12th Safar, 2 A.H.
In order to secure peace and safety for the Muslims of Madinah, the Prophet (saw) himself took part in a number of military expeditions. Whether or not fighting actually took place, such expeditions are known as Ghazwah.
Ghazwah Waddan (ghazwah Abwa) took place in Safar, 2 A.H.
Ghazwah Buwat took place in Rabi Al-Awwal, 2 A.H.
Ghazwah Safwan took place in Rabi Al-Awwal, 2 A.H.
Ghazwah Dhul Ushairah took place in Jumadal Ula- Jumadal Akhirah, 2 A.H.
Ali Bin Abi Talib married Prophet's (saw) daughter Fatimah.
Qiblah is the direction towards which the Muslims turn their face in prayers. It was changed from Jerusalem to Qa'aba Makkah in Rajab, 2 A.H. Zakat and fasting was for the first time that the Muslims observed one month (Ramadhan) of fasting and celebrated Eid including the Eid prayer.
Ghazwah Badr took place on 17 Ramadhan, 2 A.H. (Victory for the Muslims).
There is 3 Ghazwahs took place after that (Ghazwah Bani Saleem, Ghazwah Bani Qainuqa, and Ghazwah Sawique).

The 3rd Year of the Hijrah:
There is 4 Ghazwahs took place (Ghazwah Dhi Amr, Ghazwah Buhran, Ghazwah Uhd and Ghazwah Hamra Al-Asad.
Prophet (saw) grandson Hasan was born to Ali and Fatimah on 15 Ramadhan, 3 A.H.
In this year, the Prophet (saw) married Hafsah Bint Umr Bin Khattab.
Ghazwah Uhud took place on 6 Shawwal, 3 A.H. Alots of Muslims heroes martyred.

The 4rd Year of the Hijrah:
Two tragic incidents (Mauna Well Tragedy and Rajee' Incident). Two reconnaissance missions were send by the Prophet (saw) (Reconnaissance of Abu Salamah and Reconnaissance of Ibn Unais).
There is 2 Ghazwahs took place (Ghazwah Bani Nadeer and Ghazwah Badr the second).
Prophet (saw) grandson Husain was born to Ali and Fatimah in the month of Sha'ban.
The Prophet (saw) married Zainab Bint Khuzaimah and Umm Salamah.

The 5th Year of the Hijrah:
Ghazwah Doumatul Jandal took place in Rabi Al-Awwal, 5 A.H. Ghazwah Ahzab (Ghazwah Khandaq) took place in Shawwal, 5 A.H. And there is also Ghazwah Bani Quraiza.
Divine commandements revealed in this year are concerning Hijab, Zihar, Tayammum and Prayer of Fear.
The Prophet (saw) married Zainab Bint Jahsh.

The 6th Year of the Hijrah:
Ghazwah Bani Lihyan took place in Rabi Al-Awwal or Jumad Al-Ula, 6 A.H. Ghazwah Bani Mustaliq (Muraisi) took place in Sha'ban, 6 A.H.
The Prophet (saw) married Rehana Bint Amr and Juwairiyah.
Hudaibiyah Treaty. The Prophet (saw) had a dream, the Prophet (saw) saw that he entered the Sacred Santuary (Qa'aba) in Makkah in security with his followers and performed the rites of Umrah, their heads were being shaved. After hearing the dream, the Companions made preparations to perform Umrah after an exile of 6 years. After a long journey, they took a rest at Dhul Hulaifa and wear the Ihram dress. The Quraish sent 200 horsemen led by Khalid Bin Waleed to take the Muslims by surprise during the noon prayer. Due to the rules of "prayer of fear" revealed, he missed the chance.
Then the Muslims stayed at Hudaibiyah outside Makkah.

Meanwhile, at the Prophet's (saw) instance, Uthman went to Abu Sufyan and other Makkan chiefs and reiterated the intention of the Muslims' visit. Uthman was delayed to return to the Muslim camp.
Finally the Quraish agree to hold a peace treaty with the Muslims (Treaty of Hudaibiya) in Dhul Qa'dah, 6 A.H.

After returning from Hudaibiyah, the Prophet (saw) decided to send messages to the kings beyond Arabia calling them to Islam.
