A bodyguard of Chechnya's separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov was killed in Chechnya during a special operation by Russia's federal forces, NTV television reported, quoting the press service of Russia's Federal Security Service. Ali Aisultanov resisted the arrest and was shot dead in an attempt to escape.
A gang of Chechen rebels attacked a motorcade of Russia's federal forces in Argun, NTV television reported. The rebels fired on the motorcade from an ambush using machineguns and grenade-launchers. Russian officers opened a response fire. The attack was repelled. No one have been reported wounded.
Two teenagers were killed and four other locals were wounded on Saturday in the village of Goyty during an attack by Russia's federal forces. 16 houses were destroyed, Interfax news agency reported, quoting local administration head Yasayev. Chechen prosecutors have launched an investigation.
At the same time residents of the village Komsomolskoye have blocked Gudermes administration's building. They are protesting against an arrest of two locals. The protesters say Russian soldiers detained the two residents on Friday without any explanation, Radio Ekho Moskvy reported. |
