Chechnya Update
A bodyguard of Chechnya's separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov was killed in Chechnya during a special operation by Russia's federal forces, NTV television reported, quoting the press service of Russia's Federal Security Service. Ali Aisultanov resisted the arrest and was shot dead in an attempt to escape.
A gang of Chechen rebels attacked a motorcade of Russia's federal forces in Argun, NTV television reported. The rebels fired on the motorcade from an ambush using machineguns and grenade-launchers. Russian officers opened a response fire. The attack was repelled. No one have been reported wounded.

Two teenagers were killed and four other locals were wounded on Saturday in the village of Goyty during an attack by Russia's federal forces. 16 houses were destroyed, Interfax news agency reported, quoting local administration head Yasayev. Chechen prosecutors have launched an investigation.

At the same time residents of the village Komsomolskoye have blocked Gudermes administration's building. They are protesting against an arrest of two locals. The protesters say Russian soldiers detained the two residents on Friday without any explanation, Radio Ekho Moskvy reported.

Russian Marines and paratroopers have entered the city. In the Gudermes district Russian forces to the villages of Engel-Yurt and Komsomolskoye. Russian police units have already entered these two villages. Russian army aviation attack rebel bases and military equipment on the outskirts of villages of Samashki and Pobedinskoye. Su-24 and Su-25 aircraft continue active bombing operations against rebel targets on the outskirts of Grozny. Russian long-range artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) have delivered a massive strike against rebel positions around the villages of Davydenko, Pervomayskoye, Gerzel-Aul, Petropavlovskaya, Tolstoy-Yurt, Goryacheistochninskoye, Nozhai-Yurt, and Choorch-Irzu.

Two Russia's Su-25 attack jets and one Su-24 bomber attacked rebels' positions in Chechnya on Friday, Interfax news agency reported, quoting the combined federal forces HQ in Chechnya. The airstrikes focused on rebels' mountain bases. An ammunition dump, two blindages and one rebels' stronghold were destroyed during the attack. Mi-24 assault helicopters bombarded rebels' groups detected during the airstrike mission. Two obstructions were created on mountain paths. Some 300 metres of mountain roads were mined by cluster bombs dropped by the military jets.
