| In strict Buddhist Tradition they celebrate Kuan Yin's birthdays 3 times a year. One Earthly birthday, and two more to do with various levels of ascension. | FULL MOON IN MARCH Celebrate Kuan Yin's Birthday on the day and evening of the Full Moon in March. (Which is usually around March 21st. If you are Buddhist you can go to temple. Otherwise you are free to honour her in your own special way. I'd say lovingly clean her statue, place fresh flowers cups of water, incense and candles before her as gifts. In Taiwan they give offerings of frest fruit and vegetables. Then, meditate, invoke her and simply wish her a Happy Birthday, and thanks her (as always) for all the blessings she sends your way. APRIL 5th Festival of the Goddess of Mercy. APRIL 15th Kuan Yin Compassion Mantra/Ritual. JULY FULL MOON FEAST OF KUAN YIN Have a small feast with like minded people in honour of Kuan Yin. In chinese cultures Kuan Yin's Birthday is celebrated on the 19th Day of the 2nd, 6th and 9th Chinese Calender months. Astrologists say Kuan Yin's Birthday should be celebrated on the 21st March. It is hard then to know which time is right to celebrate her birthday, as the chinese calender differs from ours. So for me as a Westener I have decided to go with the Astrology and celebrate Kuan Yin's birthday on March 21st. |
