Current and Upcoming Events.
In May this year there will be a festival held in Melbourne showcasing writing, writers and small magazines. This festival will be held over the weekend of the 25th, 26th and 27th of May at the Melbourne Town Hall and Federation Square in Melbourne. We will be present along with many other writers and magazines in Australia. There will also be people from leading publishers and some smaller ones who will be looking for new manuscripts and new writers. For more details on this event please see their website: http://emergingwritersfestival.org.au
Current Activities
There are a number of activities that we at the writer group are undertaking to boost our skills and experience. For starters we have undertaken the task of writing a piece of poetry based on a given topic. The piecesmust be both comedic and badly written. We are trying to produce enough pieces for a magazine devoted entirely to bad comedic poetry and so far we are well on our way to achieving that aim. When this magazine is finished, we will announce that it is available to read. The second activity we are currently doing is writing a long story a small amount at a time. The only guidelines are that the piece must be written over the period of a few weeks or months and that each week 1000 words or more are added to the total number of words in the story. So far in this activity, there are at least five pieces going, with some now totalling over 10,000 words.
More Relevant Links.
Here we have more links to stuff that our writers have produced. The main link is to the DeviantArt site where we also post new pieces, a lot of which go towards the magazine at some point. This is the best site to go to to see the most recent pieces our writers have penned. The other is another link to the place where we stash all our magazines. So if you want to go and find all of them without the tedium of going through one link at a time, then this is the place to go.
