The Bride

I was born in Germany in 1968. After completing  a few degrees, I am now working in the Army Reserve at 39 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters, however I am trained as a gunner. My major interest is dancing.  Ballroom and Scottish country were my first loves. Then came irish. Some other interests include horseback riding, skiing and pretending to play ice hockey. I say pretending because by the time I get to the puck it has already passed me again on it's way back. A few more years of practise and I should be able to keep up.

The Groom

Ward was born in North Vancouver in 1967. He just graduated from Washington State University in Engineering this year. He is a sweetie and good at cooking. It must mean something that my cat, Schmoo really likes him. His interests are basically the same as mine. There is that army thing, dancing, skiing, hockey and did I mention dancing?

How we met

Like ships passing in the night, we were often in the same places and almost at the same time. I skied Cypress while he worked there. I just got off the mountain as he started his shift. I went to most of the Saint's dances, but we never connected. The army finally cleared that up. It is hard not to run into the same people all the time, since the army is such a small world.

The Engagement

We were engaged on 22 Mar 2002. It was the last formal night on the cruise and we were decked out in our mess kit. I went to watch the game show before the evening show when Ward came to see what I was doing. He acted a bit strange when I asked if there was something he wanted me to do. He just told me to enjoy the show and went back to doing some homework. I found him after the show and he asked if I wanted to go for a walk. I thought something might be up as he had never suggested a walk before on the ship. There was always a destination in mind. We ended up on the pool deck alone under the warm and starry sky and he asked how much I loved him. I wasn't going to make the answers too easy for him, so I replied "enough to make you iron your own shirts". He then asked if I loved him enough to marry him. Well, the rest is history. We changed into some comfortable clothes and joined friends for dancing.
