Day3,4, 5,6: 4th-7th Dec'03 - Game viewing and camping out in the wild

Sleepless in Serengeti

Our next few days in Serengeti were filled with the unexpected...every few minutes, we encountered something new ...sometimes, for hours...nothing. We drove in our Land Rover from short bumpy distances to lush green pastures in the Western Corridor.

Day3 - 4th Dec'03: Departed for game viewing at 0820hrs. We saw impala just outside our camp area. The day could not have started better, because after a few minutes drive from our camp site we saw two lioness with a fresh zebra kill. What was more spectacular,  the zebra was pregnant.....and one of the lioness actually removed the fully developed unborn zebra from the mother's womb.

pulled out the fully grown baby zebra from the mother's womb dragging the zebra to a shady spot

We stopped at a waterhole where plenty of zebra were refreshing themselves.
