William Irvin served as a Blacksmith during the Civil War

with Company E, 6th Regiment of the Illinois Calvary.

On December 15, 1861 while shoeing a horse,

the horse fell on William's chest and he would suffer

from those injuries until his death in 1877.

William also served in the Mexican-American War as a Private under

the commands of Capt. Bogard's 4th IL. Volunteers.

William is buried in Bethel Cemetery at

Sharpsburg, Christian County, IL.

The above picture belongs to a cousin that lives in San Antonio, TX.
