Excuse me while I gloat... My holiday report.... :)

Had a great holiday up North, (Queensland, for those not in Oz), where I sat on the beach looking out at the bluest sea I've ever seen, doing nothing more major than soaking up the sun and writing the occasional masterly piece of prose. (well, maybe some weren't so masterly... <g>) But, imagine, sitting on the warm, golden sands, the gentle sound of the sea washing over you, your lap top in lap as you take inspiration from all those tanned and powerfully built bodies surfing  and hand gliding around you...can you think of a better place for a writer to write? Can you imagine what my next hero is likely to look like? <g>. Of course it was a bit of a downer to see the beautiful slim and taut  girls in their topless bikinis while I was in my one-piece flowered swimsuit complete with skirt... Sigh. Next year we'd like to go to Broome and through the Kimberleys. Hopefully, the men will still be as inspiring, and the women not so gorgeous <g>

The birth of a new writer... How I became one third of Celine Dorothy Bruna...

One day, over coffee, I got talking to two good friends (and fellow writers)--Serena Tatti and Elvina Payet-- about writing and how hard it was to get a foot in the door of the publishing world--and keep it there! Well, one thing led to another, and we started throwing around the idea of doing a book together. We jotted down three plots each, then chose the one we thought had the 'best' chance. That book was called Linked to Love,  and it was a romantic comedy aimed at Tango. Just for the fun of it, we all started writing sections of it...and after getting three chapters we all thought were pretty good, decided we had nothing to lose by sending it off. What's the worst they could do? Reject it? Been there, done that <g>. Of course, sending it off meant we had to choose a name.  After much discussion, we decided to take our mother's first name -- Celine Dorothy Bruna (Elvina's, mine and Serena's) - great, eh?  Well, you can imagine our shock--and delight, and excitement --when we received a request for the full from Byrony Green, Associate Senior  Editor of Tender Romance, along with two pages of suggested revisions!  But the biggest buzz for me was the tail end of the request, which said, and I quote... "what has the potential to be a really great story." I'm still floating big-headed on that wonderful comment!
