Public facilities in Waterford like everywhere else in the Republic of Ireland (bar Cork) are insured by a company called Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurance. In order to reduce their insurance premiums to an affordable amount (25'000 euro's per annum with a 5000 euro excess) Waterford county council negotiated with I.P.B.M.I and agreed on the following provisions.

~ The establishment of a skatepark users              club.

~ All users must wear helmets and full pads.

~ The skatepark must be supervised.

~ The facility must be professionally built
    and maintained.

These are basically the golden rules to getting any
council owned public skatepark in Ireland insured.
