In 782 BC the Urartian king Argishti the first founded Erebuni, the militery and administrative center of the state of Urartu, situated in the location of present-day Yerevan.
The ruins of
Erebuni is in the souhteastern part of todays Yerean, on the Arin-Berd hill. Yerevan is the capital of Armenia. population os 30.000 people, 102 sq km. (the population now is more that a million). This year Yervan will celebrait its 2786th anniversary.The center part of the city involves 3 main squares The Republic Square, The Shahumia Square and The Theatrical Square.
Repubil Square is the gemstone of th city, framed bu buildings of the Government and the Hotel Armenia. designed by Alexandre Tamanyan, the best tradition of Armenian architecture.
The Thearrival Square is adjavent to the state Opera and Ballet House, maeking up another picturesque ensemble, while the Hrazdan Stadium and the Vicroy Bride with the Wine and the Cognac Factories, represent another composition genuinely fitting with the Hrazdan canyon. Mashtots Avenue one of the main arteries of the city, starts here. it goes  up north, ending at the steps of Matenadaran-a uniqe research institute and musuem of ancian manuscrips named ofter Mesrob mashtots, the creator of Armenian Alphabet.High up hill, behind Matenadarean, teh monumental statue of Mother Armenia stands on a vigil over the panorama of the city. On Tzitzernakaberd Hill the memoral of the victims of th 1915 Genoside is situated.Yerevan is also known as the Garden city, thaks to teh estencive work carried out in planting trees and plants.
