| Holidays are a time for everyone to band together and celebrate. They also allow us much needed breaks from the grind of daily like. Here are holidays that you will celebrate if you choose to join the Easy Bake Coven. |
| Holidays: Samhain-sundown of October 31st (12th day of The Aftermath) on till next sun set. Also known as Halloween. On this holiday one remembers those who may have passed away that year. They also remember what their ancestors did for them. The Holiday is a symbolic funeral for the God, who gives himself so that his people may harvest. Then after honor has been paid you dress up as something crazy that you can not be in your everyday life and you start drinking some meade and you go out and howl at the moon. The night is a night of chaos at it's best and your duty is to enjoy it like a child. Afflux- the 50th day of The Aftermath (December 8th). There is no meaning of Afflux written in the "Principia Discordia" so I choose to watch Aeon Flux, because it uses the same letters as Afflux. Midwinter (Yule)-on the Winter Solstice around December 20th-24th. This is a holiday celebrating the birth of the new Sun God, the Goddess who was the wife to the God who just died on Samhain was pregnant and since she is a goddess she has the baby about to months after her husband dies. This holiday is similar in story to Christmas, and is also where the Christmas tree decorations came from. So decorate a tree and give presents to your family and celebrate with childlike joy. Hogmanay- December 31st (the Aftermath 73rd). This is a scottish celtic holiday that honors the crone Goddess. You should bang on pots and pans and make a lot of racket because the Crone is a very old woman and she can't hear you too well, so the louder you get the better she will hear your worship. Mungaday- the 5th day of Chaos (the 5th day of January). Meditate upon the image of the Sacred Chao who was found by the Apostle Hung Mung. The Feast of Morrigan- the 7th day of January. A feast celebrating the Triple Goddess of Death and Destruction. Why do we celebrate destruction, you ask? Well, when a Goddess is destroying something, it is so that good things can be created out of it, so it leads to creation and that makes us happy. Also the Morrigan could kick our @$$E$! Imbolg-February 1st. A fire festival celebrationg the adolescences of the Sun God's waiting bride. Often it is said to be the Star Goddess Brighid. Long ago young girls would put on old clothes and go door to door begging for alms for "poor Biddy" (Biddy being short for Brighid, stupid!). Giving money to the girls was considered good luck and the girls often put it in the collection plate, or some other community activity. You can go door to door and ask for money too, however it is bad to do if you keep the money, you must donate the money to a local charity after you recieve it. You can also do this modern adaptation of a old tradition. Get a Barbie Doll dressed in bridal gown and put her by an Eastern window to wait for the Sun. Chaoflux-February 19th. Nothing is really said about Chaoflux in the Principia, so I say just do something fun, and meditate. Whuppity Scoorie- March 1-3rd. A holiday designed to wake up mother earth so that you dont have to deal with the cold anymore. Ring bells, scream, hit the ground with sticks, wake it up. Then drink some wine. Play in the park and get ready for spring. Mojoday- 5th day of Discord, March 19th. Not much is said about what we should do on this HolyDay either. Nothing really is of the discordian HolyDays. I like to think about Mojo Jojo the villian on the PowerPuff Girls. He is an evil Monkey. |
