The IRAS - as one of the premier civil services of the country has completed a long and prestigious
innings of 75 years. There is hardly any doubt that the service has attracted some of the best talent
available in the country. The much needed initial shape and direction was given to the service by some
of our great stalwarts of the forties and fifties, who admirably negotiated several challenges. My
interaction with the younger generation of IRAS officers assures me that the future of Railway finances
is also in competent hands.
I convey my congratulations and greetings to all my IRAS colleagues in this milestone Platinum
Jubilee year. I am sure the coming years will see even higher levels of excellence, professionalism and
commitment in the IRAS cadres towards effective management of Railway Finances.
