I am happy to learn that the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) completes 75 years in 2004.
I am also happy to know that on this occasion a number of Seminars are being organised at various
centres. I understand that the first Regional Seminar will be jointly hosted by Southern, South Western
and East Coast Railways in Chennai on 28th January 2005 on 'Management of Change in Indian
Railways'.
Indian Railways have a tradition of pioneering and managing change in a number of areas,
including finance and accounts management. I am sure that the deliberations at the Seminar would help
Indian Railways.
I offer my special felicitations to Financial Commissioner (Railways) and wish all the Officers of
IRAS all the very best and I am confident that they will be able to meet all the challenges facing the
Indian Railways in the current millennium.
