*Purpose and Aims*	The Allama Iqbal Open University was established under an Act of Parliament (Act XXXIX) and has the same legal and academic status as other Universities in Pakistan. It is designed to provide education to those who cannot leave their homes or jobs. The University aims to provide equality of educational opportunities to as large a section of the population as possible, including those in employment, housewives, and others who wish to upgrade their education or acquire knowledge for professional advancement or love of learning. The University provides facilities for the training of teachers. The major contact with students is through the mass media
