Topics for discussion:
Plenary Lectures:
 | Keynote lecture: Facing the Challenge: A New Chapter in Pharmacy |
 | Impact of IT and the Internet on Pharmacy Practice |
 | The Role of Pharmacists in Complementary Medicine |
 | Pharmacoeconomics in the Aging Population |
Workshop Topics:
 | Chinese Herbalism:
In this session, you'll be given a brief introduction to the use of Chinese
Herbs and the concept of the Chinese way of treatment and maintenance of the
human body. This exciting workshop gives you an insight into Traditional
Chinese Medicine which Pharmacists in this region may be required to know in
the future.
|
 | Computer Molecular Modeling:
With the advent of the use of computers and high throughput processes, it is
no surprise that Computer Molecular Modeling is becoming more important
these days. It enables Pharmacists to construct possible drug structures and
have a visual view of how these structures may interact with the receptor
sites in the human physiology. The computer programmes will also deal with
the construction of protein structures, and show you how the various
functional groups react with one another in terms of electrostatic
attractions or repulsions, resonance, angle strain etc.
|
 | The Clinical Skills Event will be a chance for you to learn the various
skills needed in identifying the drug-related problems, and making
appropriate recommendations for a particular patient. A brief introduction
on Clinical Skills will be given, and the participants will then be split up
into groups and given a case study to work on.
