We first arrived at Manteno State Hospital around 10:30 pm. We went in and did a basic EMF base reading of the place even though we knew there was no power going through the place. After that we ran our equipment. We started with some EVP work in each of the rooms in one of the last remaining cottages. In one of the rooms a couple of investigators heard loud footsteps coming from outside the doorway and after checking it out, we found nothing. About a half hour later, I was asking for any spirits here to make a noise for us or move something. Seconds after asking that we heard three very loud and distinct banging noises coming from the other side of the cottage. This time everyone heard it. Then I asked whoever did that to do it again, and sure enough we heard the same three banging noises. We went to check it out and there was no one outside or inside the place. Unfortunately, we weren't able to pick up the bangs on our voice recorder. After that we didn't experience anything else that night. When we reviewed our evidence the next day, we came up with nothing at all. We are all still very interested in the place and we will be going back there soon for investigation number 2.
