Up to the release day of this FIFTH Circular, some confirmed participating countries have not yet submit their DELEGATION MEMBER REGISTRATION form. We urge you to submit this form before June 15, 2002, as it is very important for us, in terms of Presidential Protocols as well as room booking.

We remind once again to all participants that the 33rd International Physics Olympiad will be official opened by Madame Megawati Sukarnoputri, the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Therefore strict protocol will be enforced during the Opening Ceremony. One of these protocols is the Dress Code, we asked all participants to wear a formal dress for the Opening and Closing Ceremony.

One rare activity that we have planned for the coming Olympiad is the publication of the International Physics Olympiad Stamps Series. The President of the Republic of Indonesia will sign the First Day Cover of these stamps during the Opening Ceremony. Aside from the IPhO Stamps Series, other philatelic items will be also sold during the Olympiad. To take this rare opportunity further, we would like to encourage the philatelist among the Olympiad participants to bring along their stamps collection and perhaps engage in exchanging stamps collection with other participants from some 69 delegations.

The venue of the main event of the Olympiad examinations is the Grand Bali Beach Hotel where the students will also be lodged. Other activities of the Leaders will be conducted in the Sheraton Nusa Indah Hotel. We will try to accommodate all Leaders, Observers and Visitors in the Sheraton Nusa Indah Hotel. Please note that we ask your cooperation due to the restricted number of rooms allocated to us during this high season period in Bali. Our policy is all Leaders, Observers and Visitors will be lodged in a Double Occupancy room. Therefore we would very much appreciate if in your DELEGATION MEMBER REGISTRATION FORM, you also indicate your roommate preference.

All the above information can also be found in our websites :

http://www.fi.itb.ac.id/~iph033 or http://www.geocities.com/ipho33

Please check our websites frequently as many other useful information about IPhO, Indonesia and Bali are contained in the website.

We hope that your team's preparations have gone smoothly and we hope you every success in 33rd International Physics Olympiad.

SECOND CIRCULAR

( Released : 15 February 2002 )

Dear Leaders

Last December we have disseminated the Participation Invitation Letter to your respective government agencies. We hope that a decision to participate in the 33rd IPhO to be held in Indonesia can be made in due time. Please note once again that the venue and the date of the Olympiad have been changed to the following :

Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia
       21 - 30 July 2002

A representative of the Organizing Committee will be ready at the Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar, Bali on the 21st of July 2002 to receive your delegations and bring you to the respective hotels. And on the 30th of July, a representative of the Organizing Committee will again take your delegation from the hotels to Ngurah Rai International Airport for your departure from Bali. Please note that Bali is a world known tourist destination and July is a high season for Bali. From your participation fee, the Organizing Committee will reserved a full board hotel accommodation from the 21st - 30th of July 2002. So it is advisable that you booked your flight early.

Leaders, Observers and Visitors to the 33rd International Physics Olympiad will be lodged at the Sheraton Nusa Indah Hotel in Nusa Dua Resort Area and students will be lodged at the Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur. Both are five star hotels and it will take 45 minutes bus ride to go from one hotel to another. Should you or any of your delegation members need to arrange extra Pre or Post lodging at these Hotels, we would be very happy to help you. At Sheraton Nusa Indah Hotel, you will be charged at a discount rate as enjoyed by the Organizing Committee, US$ 105 per room night including breakfast for two. Please give us the information as soon as possible. Again, please note that Nusa Dua Resort area is a very well known tourist destination and July is the high tourist season. We cannot ensure availability of the rooms if you are late in informing us of your needs.

We are asking your support and understanding regarding the delegation participation fee and other fees for Observer and Visitor as requested. Our goal is to host the up coming IPhO in a modest manner and we are budgeting an income from the fees collected. The amount of these fees are the same as the previous Olympiad in Turkey. All countries are requested to pay a voluntary fee of US$ 3.500 for five students and two leaders, Observer attending the academic sessions is required to pay a fee of US$ 1.200 and Visitor not attending the academic sessions is required to pay a fee of US$ 1.000. All fees must be paid in full by 1 June 2002. Please make payment to :

Acc. Name : Doddy / Triyanta / Suharlan
Acc. Number : 8002760377
Bank : CITIBANK - Bandung, Indonesia
