CALM,
Windy leaves sweep gently across a green lawn,
As the cooled sun, lights white the trees.
And cold shade sleeps behind the sky-line,
With settled dirt in calm position.
And ever so often a car breezes by,
Disturbing the restful silence,
Of a day grown long,
But with more time to go,
And a child playing down the sidewalk.
Another swift wind glides by,
As a tree bows slowly and back,
And when the child goes in
And the light grows dim,
Calm retreats in darkness. |
