NIGHT COVER,
Did you ever notice a shadow
On someone's shoulders?
The shadow that idles behind their neck,
In the dark.
The darkness that rests in black veil,
Unnoticed.
Did you ever watch it slide down a curve
In their back?
Watch a shadow trickle softly around a candle-lit cheek?
Or hide all but glowing eyes, almost friendly,
In the night?
Did you ever think of shadows on yourself?
Onxy blankets, warming your reflection,
And midnight heat, hiding from the sun.
There is darkness where there need be,
As our night-time suggests. |
