A young soldier was walking south when he came across a musician by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling good and said, "Musician, I am much like you- we both make a great deal of noise and don't get paid enough." The soldier continued down the road and soon spotted a bear by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling strong and said, "Bear, I am much like you- we both fight to protect our children." Traveling further down the road the soldier met a boxer by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling philosophical and said, "Boxer, I am much like you- we fight because it is the only thing we are good at." The soldier resumed his walk and next saw a lion by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling angry and said, "Lion, I am much like you- we both jealously defend our territory." Continuing on his way the soldier met a jackal by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling tired and said, "Jackal, I am much like you- we kill to take things away from others." Moving farther down the road the soldier came to a garbage collector by the side of the road. The soldier was feeling terrible and said, "Garbage collector, I am much like you- we dispose of unwanted things." Coming to the end of the road, the aged soldier found a gravedigger waiting there for him. The soldier was feeling nothing and said, "Gravedigger, I am much like you- we have both come to know death." |
