I have been updating the page like crazy, so if you haven't been here recently, you should check out the old stuff- like my thoughts on Memorial Day Weekend movie-thons here or my review (sorta) of a show I saw a week and a half ago here.
Zines should be sent off tomorrow or the next day.  Expect them to show up at Chicago/Central Illinois shows for the next month or two as well.
I realized I have never actually linked Insound from this page.  In case you don't know about this amazing service, they offer an expansive selection of zines, records, videos and the like.  They also have some very cool online features such as chats and MP3s.  And you should definitely check out their radio links like indiepop (think Wolfie, Olivia Tremor Control, etc.) and 3wk (Jam, Flin Flon, David Bowie, At the Drive-In, nice variety)  Basically I spend way too much time (and money) at Insound and you should too.
Another website I spend too much time at is Supersphere.  It's a bit like watching MTV back when they used to show videos, only here it's bands you really like, on request, with no commercials.  Maybe someday no one will go to shows; the bands will show up to play and a Supersphere crew will be there to film it, and everyone would watch it the next day.  Regardless, another great site for online freeness.
Bands: I have heard the new Modest Mouse album and it is pretty impressive, it sounds like they are going in new directions.  Their new webpage is going to be here.  Also be sure to check out Death Cab For Cutie.
Venues: I have to admit, The Metro in Chicago is hosting some impressive shows this year.  With ticketmaster and parking it tends to be pricey, and shows of that size will always have their problems, but overall it is worth going to a few times a year.
Labels: Southern (Fugazi, Karate, Don Caballero, duh) Saddle Creek (Bright Eyes, The Faint) and Tommy Boy (Broadcast, Handsome Boy Modeling School).
Zines (and related): Baby Sue, The Book of Zines, Instant Magazine.
One year ago: God's Reflex, Not Rebecca and Logan's Loss play a good old fashioned church basement show in Downers Grove.  Summer approaches.

05/31/00 ~ 3:22 p.m.
Tonight CBS premiers "Survivor," the newest in the reality TV craze.  The idea actually was first used by a Swedish show, just like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" is a copy of an English show and the upcoming "Big Brother" is a knockoff of a Dutch/German show.  Regardless, the premise is that 16 people are stranded on an island in the pacific and have to compete in various events, voting each other off the island based on their survival skills and such.  I'm rooting for Colleen (right).
I have also started up a dates page with all the important upcoming events, shows and the like.  Let me know if you have anything to add.
Also... Doghouse Records (Metroshifter, etc.) and Dummy.Down.

06/01/00 ~ 5:17 p.m.
The June Poll is up, check it out.  Also take a look at
Terraserver: Can you find your house?
Swap it: I'm going to see if I can trade Minus Wings and Halo and The New Sounds of Ska for Diamond Dogs and So... How's Your Girl?
Ted Leo: Former member of Chisel and expert guitarist soloist.
Epitonic: Diverse collection of MP3s from lots of great bands.

One tough rabbit

Above: A stowaway for the last month, this rabbit finally fell victim to one of my late-nite food cravings.

Does she have what it takes?
