-yes, I'm in my room at 11:30 on a Saturday-
So sue me.  Tonight is actually falling short of last night, when I wrote a Citizens and Governance paper.  I was going to go see "Clerks" at the theater only to get there and find out "Chasing Amy" was playing instead.  This is strangely reminescent of my previous experience in which I went to see "Clerks" and ended up with "Dogma".  I wonder if our community has a chronic problem with recieving the correct Kevin Smith movie, or if its some sort of individual curse preventing me from ever seeing "Clerks" again.  On the bright side, I got the excellent soundtrack for "The Limey".  Its roughly one third cool '60s pop (Hollies, Byrds, etc.) one third catchy, jazzy electronic stuff and one third atmospheric piano (reminds me of the Resident Evil 2 score).  I also got three compliments on my new haircut and found out I haven't gained any weight since starting school eight months ago, even though I eat one to two pints of Cherry Garcia every week- and the rest of my diet isn't much better.  At least I'll be skinny up until my heart attack.

Sorry there haven't been any new pictures, there's two main reasons:
#1- My sister needed to borrow the camera and still has it.
#2- There haven't been any good shows within my range of travel in the past few weeks.
I should be able to remedy both after finals.  I'm looking forward to seeing Modest Mouse, Seven Days of Samsara, Sonic Youth, Cerebus Shoal, Stereolab and many more... There's a lot of shows at big places like The Metro and The Riveria, which means expensive tickets, which means I'll probably miss Elliot Smith and Yo La Tengo.  National Skyline is playing a Q101 "New Music Tuesday" in June which is sort of funny.

-three-ish-
Gamera, everyone's favorite city-destroying turtle.  Check out the pictures here.
Some great quotes.  The third and fourth ones are pretty funny.
Strange Brew, one of my favorite movies during my freshmen year in high school.  Now none other than Make-Up is sampling from it.  Who would have guessed?
And for the brave of heart, bug eating.

Geocities- "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."

This is a pretty funny parody.  Try the Superfriends one.  Here's the source, in case you haven't seen it.

There are some things I just don't understand.  If anyone understands this, please explain it to me.

Bad news is, I spent the last $15 of my paycheck on records today.  Good news is I get paid again tomorrow.  So the cycle contines...

Have you been following this?  Always nice to see how your tax dollars are being used to kill people in far away places...

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I've been busy with school and issue four of Interstate.  After finals and number four are done with I will put some more stuff up.  Also too many movies lately: "Sweet and Lowdown", "THX-1138", "The Rainmaker", "The Edge" and "The Limey".

Today is the first spring rain.  Spring rain can be differentiated from winter rain as you don't freeze while walking in it.  Number four is coming together nicely, set for release in mid or late May.

"When one side is hot, the other side of the moon is not, it's just like a ride."
For reasons I can't fully explain I couldn't go to my room Friday night or Saturday morning, so I had an interesting weekend.  I ended up sleeping under the study carrels on the 12th floor (surprisingly comfortable).  I also finished a 5 plus page paper without the amenities of my room to distract me.  The highlights of the weekend were "American Beauty", "Black and White", "High Fidelity" and "American Psycho".

-12:56 AM-
"The kids are crazy, spray painted crosses on the flags, the flags, the small town boys."
I went to see a show tonight, two local bands and three mid-level touring bands.  The first band was alright, except in that they fulfilled a few too many punk rock stereotypes.  Sample song titles: "Sweetest girl" and "Hippies smell".  Sorry, but I think it's been done before...
The other bands were alright but none blew me away.  It's amazing to see the huge number of bands who play that melodic, sometimes faster, pop influenced sound ala Alkaline Trio, Get Up Kids, Mid Carson July, Promise Ring, etc.  Genre names used by such bands include (but are not limited to) pop-punk, pop, power pop, post-punk, rock and the ubiquitous emo.  These used to be pretty distinct categories, now there is quite a bit of blending.  It's not necessarily good or bad, but it's definitely present.
The other thing I realized is that I have to take my camera everywhere!  I figured I wouldn't need it and I missed four really cool pictures on my walk to the show.  They were: (1) A weird sign "Drive-In" over a bank drive through- (2) A pole with a carved wavey head ala that painting "The Scream"- (3) Really strange pink windshield wipers (you should have seen them, they were strange!)- (4) And a racoon on somebody's roof (it turned out to be a cat, my heart was beating pretty fast though).
