-late afternoon- I thought it would be a good idea to post the March poll results. Better late than never, right? If Interstate readers determined our nation's leaders (and, god willing, someday they will) our new president would be Ben Weasel with a massive 47% of the vote! David Duchovny and John McEntire each received 20% of the vote, no doubt splitting the essential conspiracy nerd / indie nerd vote. Steven Segal and Tori Spelling picked up very small chunks of the vote and the rest just plain lost.
-almost one- Alright, i put up a ton of links. My roommate had Oblivion on the stereo so I couldn't go to sleep, so I just threw the first twenty or thirty some links that came to mind up there. I also saw Boys Don't Cry, which will probably keep me up thinking all night. -04/09/00-
-late afternoon/early evening (?)- Alright, I put up a ton of new links as I had nothing better to do. Here's the lowdown: Farscape - Fairly entertaining sci-fi serial. Open Diary - For all you neurotics. The Normal Theater - The best movie theater I have ever been to. Where's George - Find out where all your money has been. Lester Brown - Environmentalism that actually works. Translator - Thees seete-a is pretty foonny. Bork Bork Bork! Upcoming Movies - My whole summer laid out ahead of me. I've also got a ton of band and label links but I'm sort of split on wether or not I should put them up as there are a ton of sites out there which already have such a service. Easier just to link you to them: I would suggest House of the Rising Punk, Kick Bright, and Don't Tell Anybody Anything. I think for now I will just link up pertinent ones. Parasol records. I got Parasol's sweet sixteen, volume one compilation to review. I normally don't like this sort of pop but I think it's growing on me. This Elk City song rules! Also, if you don't have it yet, you should get "What's Happening Here", Proudentall's new album on sun.sea.sky. I sort of miss the rougher edgier sound from their compilation and 7" stuff, but overall this is definitely the best they have put out. Awesome artsy layout, except for the cursive writing which is completely impossible to read, I had to go to the website just to figure out what the name of the album was. That aside, immense realease.
-half past midnight- Here's my link for the day: Gundam Wing. It's the official site for this great show I've been watching recently on the Cartoon Network. It's on about twice a day (I'm not sure exactly what times) and it has a pretty interesting plot. One year ago (and a day, technically): We went to see Jets to Brazil and the show was sold out by time we got there. It was sort of a disappointment but we still had fun record shopping, so it wasn't a complete loss. Also: Robot, Millennium

-noonish- Great news story today. Members of the '80s glam rock band Twisted Sister are saying they will vote for Al Gore, who, along with his wife Tipper, lead the movement for the parental advisement stickers in the mid-'80s, and cited Twisted Sister as part of the problem with popular music. Apparently Dee Snider and the gang have decided Gore's stance on environmental issues outweighs the past differences they have had. "We're not going to take it" Gore's new campaign theme? The weather yesterday was amazing. At around seven in the evening, I was in the third floor lounge, which is always empty. You get an amazing view of the western horizon from there, and one of the few good things about living out here is the amazing sunsets every other night. I just sat and watched the sun sink. The weather today, on the other hand, was horrible, the rain peaked just as I was coming back from class and my entire body was pummelled by marble sized drops of icy cold water.

-after dark- "Insight, forsight, more sight the clock on the wall reads a quarter past midnight" One year ago: Easter Sunday. We went into the city to see the third and last Post Marked Stamps show at the Fireside Bowl. Sunset West, Traluma and Braid played. Traluma and Braid are now broken up and I'm not sure about Sunset West. A fun show, and not too late as it was a Sunday.
-early morning- I found out there is going to be a Dungeons and Dragons movie sometime in the next year or two, and I thought to myself, "Gee, that will be a lame movie." Then I saw that the cast includes Marlon Wayans, which of course changes everything. I will see you there on opening night. Five weeks and I can go home. I can't wait. Everything is a desperate attempt to try and carry things out for as long as possible. I can't wait to get out of here. |
