Site News: Development Developing

Damn Java's making problems. Can't get it sorted fast enough. Oh well, at least I'm now studing how to make my own animations/menus/pictures etc. with a whole host of programs, Flash, Fireworks, Freehand, Director and Paintshop Pro 7. However slowly though, site development progress is still being made. Don't let the dates at the top fool you, I'm just leaving them until last. Matthew has agreed to let his Ihug account host my website, so good bye geocube. Until then, though, all information posted is for in-house testing. I'm sorry that news of this site had been leaked earlier on in development when it shouldn't have, resulting in a few unessasarily panicked staff members. Our culprit employee has been well diciplined now about when a site is public, and when it is not...

NZ News: Virus Alert: "MAGISTR" To Hit Our Shores Soon

"Great, yet another e-mail virus from hell" - Disgruntled IT proffesional

A cunning virus is set out to wreak havoc on computer systems. Right now it's making it's way across Europe and looks set on making it's way to NZ.

The major difference between this virus and previous efforts is that, it can extract addresses not only from outlook express, but from a number of other different places. On top of that, it's name is randomly generated so your ISP cannot block it. It also affects your whole network, if you have one, and does a lot of damage, including infecting almost all your files and flashing your BIOS.

You can take a number of measures against getting infected, but mainly not opening any *.exe / *.bat files will get you by. So beware of any attachments your recive, from anyone!

Every e-mail virus tries to out do the last, this is no exception

International News: American Sub Sinks Japanese Trawler

'America is repeatedly ridiculing us,' - says Japanese victim's father

An investigation is being carried out as to what caused a huge US battle sub to crash into a Japanese fishing trawler. The incident occured just South of Pearl Harbour during a practice dive, where the 110m 'Los Angeles' class sub surfaced underneath the Ehime Maru and destroyed it's hull. However, the Greenville suffered only scraches as the Ehime Maru was only 7% of it's weight. There were 9 casualties, four Japanese students, two teachers and three of the trawlers crewmen.

Both vessels were carrying civilians, and there were a few noticeable coincidences. For instance, WWII began for the US at that location, and the US had sunk another ship by the name of Ehime Maru in WWII.
