COMMUNITY PROJECT

A VISIT TO THE HANDICAPPED CHILDREN'S HOME

On 12th July 2003, a visit to the Handicapped Children's Home, Batu Gajah, was organized by the Interact Club Of Perak Girls' School.  32 interactors and non-interactors participated this visit and were accompanied by two teacher advisors. We reached the Home at 8.30a.m. and  were warmly welcomed by the officers.  We were briefed about their responsibilities to the children.  We were given a chance to feed the children for their breakfast which was bread soaked with Milo after they had their bath.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and the children were so happy until they were not willing to stop eating their breakfast. After their breakfast, some of the interactors helped to clean the bathroom and their bedrooms while the others were playing with the children.

We presented some food, toys, and necessaries to the officer to distribute to the children before we left the Home.  The we took a memorable photo at the main entrance of the Home before we left. All of us enjoyed ourselves very much.

Accessories such as sponges, cloths, buckets, vacuum cleaners and extension wires were kindly lent by our members. Car shampoos, window-wipes and car waxes were bought under expenses. Water and electricity were generously subsidized by our school. We charged RM5.00 for each washing and additional RM3.00 for vacuuming. For each waxing, we charged RM15.00 .

After After this 4 tough but enjoyable days, we successfully washed a total number of 36 cars. This project was quite a success. For our achievement, we would like to thank all our beloved teachers and staffs of the school for giving us the chance to wash their cars. Last but not least, we would also like to thank to all the interactors who sacrificed their time and strength to make this project a success.
