Chapter 5

Nily picked up her phone and called Nicky. She knew that he was busy, but she
didn't care, she wanted to see him and she would see him, she always got her
own way.
"Hello"  Nicky answered
"Baby, I'm lonely"
"Nily"  He whispered  "What are you calling for? You know I only call you"
"Fine! I'll find someone else's bed for tonight!"
Her words hurt more than she'd ever realise   "No, don't say that baby"
"Well, come over then"
"I can't"
"Fine your loss"
"Okay, I'll be over!"  Nicky relented, he could never say no to her, and if
he was honest with himself, he needed to see her, more than anything.
Grabbing his jacket and his car keys, he crept out, knowing he'd be in deep
trouble if he was found sneaking out when they had an early start in the
morning. Mark was missing, not that he minded, he welcomed the peace, but he
knew that Louis wasn't best pleased and he was watching them all like hawks

I jumped as I heard banging on my front door, it dawned on me that I'd fallen
asleep, I looked around the room, I grimaced at the mess, I wanted to clean
it up, seeing it was like a constant reminder, I walked to the door, opening
it warily, wanting whoever it was to just go away, I wasn't in the mood for
entertaining
"Mark?"  I took in the small pitiful look on his face  "What? I mean, how? Oh
come in won't you?"
He smiled and walked in. He wasn't someone I was expecting to find on my
doorstep, I knew something had to be wrong for him to fly all the way over
here
"Is something wrong Mark? Is it Nicky?"  I asked, still carrying a heavy
heart, but needing to know if Nicky was in trouble
"You could say that"  He replied softly, he took his coat off and walked into
the living room  "God, what happened here?"
"I, err...I had an accident"
"So that's why I couldn't phone you"
"I'm sorry, I just wasn't in the mood for any more upsetting phone calls"
"Who upset you Caz?"
"I don't know" I replied meekly
"You don't know?"
"No, it was a woman, she told me that Nicky was cheating on me"
Mark frowned  "A woman?"
"Yeah, I have no idea who she was, but she said that Nicky loves her"  I
knelt down and picked up the pieces of the phone. I couldn't believe I broke
it. Mark kneeled beside me  "Hey, let me get that for you"  He smiled and
took the broken phone out of my hand. I smiled, I couldn't believe he was
here, I didn't even know why he was here
"Mark, why are you here? Not that I don't appreciate you coming over, but
what brought you?"
"I was wondering when you'd ask me that"
"Well?"  I smiled
"I found out something today, that wasn't really pleasing to see"
"About Nicky right?"
"I won't lie to you, and that woman who called was right"
"Oh god, he really is cheating on me"  I put my head in my hands, thinking of
everything that we went through, all the days and nights I waited for him,
and I meant absolutely nothing to him.
Mark took my hand and just held it, letting me know that I didn't have to go
through this alone, I raised my head and looked at Mark, a dear friend to me
"Now I know why he was always so quick to leave"
"You deserve better than him you know"  Mark said softly
"He's not all bad, he's the best I'll get"
Mark opened his mouth to respond, but he knew it wasn't what I needed to hear.
"You're fooled if you think he'll change"  He said. He for one wasn't about
to defend Nicky's actions
I looked at Mark, angered by his words, although I knew he had a point  "I'll
just clear this away" I took the phone from his hands and placed it in the
garbage
"Caz?"
"What?"
"It seems pointless you been here alone, and you'll probably want to patch
things up with you know who."  He looked up at me
"What are you getting at Mark?"
"Why don't you come back to London with me?"
I looked at him in surprise  "Mark I can't"
"Why not?"
"Nicky won't like it"
"So, I know four other people who will like it"
"I don't know Mark"  I sighed, knowing that Mark was right, I didn't need to
stay here in this poky apartment, surrounded by constant memories of Nicky,
my gaze rested on a few photographs, one in particular. I walked towards it,
and picked it up, two happy faces shone back. I closed my eyes and was lost
in the memory
Nicky and I, holding hands, walking on a moonlight beach, cold wind biting at
my cheeks.  "I love you"  Nicky whispered
"What?"  I asked against the harsh wind
He stopped walking and brought his cold hands up to cup my face, I shivered
as he placed his warm lips on mine.  "I love you"  He murmured against my ear
as he broke the kiss. I responded by pulling him close and kissing him.
Nicky stepped out of the embrace and approached an elderly couple, I looked
at him curiously as he walked back with them, smiling cheekily. He took me in
his arms and they took Nicky's camera and took a photo of us.  "For when
we're their age sweetie, we can look back on this day"  He said softly
I looked at him and love shone from his eyes, I believed anything he said, if
he told me that black was white, I'd have believed him. It wasn't a case of
naivety, more a case of trusting him whatever happened. I never even noticed
the elderly couple leaving as they pressed the camera back into Nicky's hand,
as I just lost myself in his warm embrace.
"Caz?"  I felt a hand touch my arm gently. Still lost in the comforting
memory  "Nicky?"  I murmured
Mark cast a pitiful look my way. He took in my glazed over eyes, the tears
that spilled down my cheeks, the photo I was clutching. He took it from me,
and as soon as he did, I was abruptly brought back to the present, I turned
to face Mark, half expecting to find Nicky smiling at me, as he was back on
the beautiful moonlit beach. He reached over and dried my tears
"He's not worth your tears you know"  Mark said softly
I tried to smile through my tears, Mark didn't need me crying on his shoulder
"Will you come with me then?"  He asked me again
"It sounds like a good idea Mark"  I started
"But?"
"But I know that Nicky won't want me there"
"Besides Nicky, is there any other reason why you can't come along?"
I tried to think of something, but there was nothing that came to mind. I
knew that the rest of the lads wouldn't have a problem with me been there, I
just said the first thing that came to me  "I'd just be in the way"
Mark smiled  "You wouldn't be, so it's settled, you'll come?"
I started to refuse again, but Mark was so insistent that I join him, and
maybe he was right, it would give me chance to speak to Nicky
"Okay"  I smiled halfheartedly

Nily laid in Nicky's arms, listening to the sound of his heart beating, she
loved having him like this, she snapped her fingers and he came running.
Her plan was to ruin him, from the moment she first laid eyes on him, she had
to change him, that part was completed. No one knew him anymore, she'd keep
him all to herself, until she tired of him, then she'd throw him in the
gutter, like she'd done in the past, nothing could stop her
"Wake up"  She shook him roughly, he stirred in his weariness. She sighed
"Get up!" She shouted. He jerked up, looking around him, he looked up into
her eyes. "What is it?"  He asked
"Here"  She handed him an ice cold beer, his eyes lit up when he saw it, he
greedily drank it.
"Slow down"  She grinned  "Plenty more where they came from"
He sat up, taking deep breaths as the alcohol coursed through his body  "Got
anything stronger?"  He asked huskily
"Well that depends"
"On what?"  He asked, his body shook, he needed something, anything.  She
took the beer bottle out of his hand, and climbed on top of him, kissing him
hungrily, he weakened to her touch  "If I give you *something*, what do I get
in return?"
Nicky groaned  "Anything, you name it, I'll do it"
"Okay"  She crawled off him and walked towards the bathroom, smiling to
herself, she opened the bathroom cabinet and found what she was looking for.
A small bag, filled with powder.
