Chapter 1

Placing the phone back down, I couldn't help but feel as though I was been
made to look a fool. He never called me, he never asked after me, and yet
when I called him up, he was the sweet and caring Nicky I used to know. He'd
changed drastically in the 12 months we'd been a couple. It was almost as if
I didn't know him anymore. I didn't like that one little bit, he was slipping
away and I was powerless to stop him. He was constantly on tour, always busy,
he never used to be like that. He'd call whenever he got a gap in his
schedule, but now he fills in the gap by going clubbing.
While I'd sit at home, waiting for his call which I never got, I hated having
to call him, I once didn't call for three days, hoping he'd get worried and
call me, it never happened. I did get phone calls though, plenty of them, but
not off him. The most important person in my life never even bothered to see
how I was.

"Nic, how long you going for honey?"  I asked as I packed his suitcase
"Hmm?"
"How long? Will I see you at all this month?"
"Don't count on it"  He muttered. My heart sank, in the past six months, I'd
seen him three times, and even then, it wasn't enough. Shane is just like
Nicky, girlfriend at home, and he even flies her out to see her. Nicky
doesn't, he never even offers. It hurts, Shane asked if I wanted to join
them, I had to refuse though, if my own boyfriend won't ask me, it's obvious
I'm not wanted.
"You'll call me when you get chance won't you?"
"Of course I will. Don't I always?"
I wanted to scream no. Yet I didn't want him to leave on a bad note, that
wouldn't help matters. He's a terrible one for holding grudges, he's too damn
sensitive for his own good
We placed his bags in the hallway, ready to be placed in the waiting taxi.
"Just let me get my jacket Nic"
"Why?"  He asked bemused
"Because, it's freezing cold that's why. You remember that I'm off to the
airport with you right?"
"Yes"  He sighed  "But there's no need, you can just say your goodbye's here"
"No, I want to come along, and anyway, I want to say bye to Bryan. If that's
okay with you?"
He shrugged his shoulders, tears burned my eyes, how could he be so
insensitive to my feelings? I won't see him for at least the next month, and
it's like he can't wait to get rid of me.

"Bryan!"  I smiled and wrapped my arms round him, he grinned  "Woah tight
hug!"
"Well, I will miss you Bry"
"I'll miss you too Caz"
I looked past him, at Nicky slumped in a seat, looking like he wanted to be
anywhere but here, he kept glancing up at the arrivals/departures board,
checking his watch every five minutes.
"Bry. Do me a favour will you?"  I whispered, so Nicky couldn't hear
"Sure, what is it?"
"Keep an eye on Nic for me will you?"
"Umm..Okay, what's with him anyway?"
"I wish I knew, it's like I hardly know him anymore"
"Well, if it's any consolation, he's not just like this with you"
"What is with him then? I thought it was just me"
"Nope, he's like this with everyone, especially Mark"
"Why Mark?"
"Finally!"  Nicky stood up as their flight to Heathrow was called
"Bry?"  I pulled at his arm, he sighed  "He doesn't like the way Nicky treats
you, and he makes his feelings clear"
"Oh"  I smiled  "But Nicky doesn't mistreat me Bry"
"You know he does"  He said as he hugged me goodbye
"Have a safe flight"  I said, Nicky grabbed his bags and set off. Bryan shook
his head in annoyance  "Err...Nic...NICKY!"
"What! We're gonna miss the flight!"  He grumbled
"Maybe so, but haven't you forgotten something?"
"Nope"  He checked his bags, his passport, his pockets.
"It's okay Bry"  I said quietly
"No it isn't"  He walked up to Nicky and shoved him  "Your girlfriend won't
be seeing you for the next month, the least you can do is give her a kiss
goodbye!"
Nicky's cheeks turned a deep crimson  "Sorry...I just didn't want to be
late..."
He smiled and hugged me, before kissing me lightly, it wasn't a big statement
of love, but it was enough for me.
They rushed to the boarding gate, with Bryan still not satisfied with Nicky's
behaviour

LONDON
Nicky's mood had changed slightly, he was still moody, but he cheered up when
he met up with the rest of the lads, he was happy to be back at work.
Bryan refused to talk to him, unless Nicky started the conversation, but that
wasn't set to happen as he was immersed in deep conversation with Shane
"You know you could have brought her Nic"  Shane smiled. And that's all it
took for Nicky to answer him with an icy glare
"I came here to work, now if you don't mind I'd rather not mix business and
pleasure!"
"Woah, what crawled up your ass and died?"  Shane was takenaback by the tone
of his voice
"Are we here to work or what?"  Nicky brushed off Shane's displeasing comment
Mark mumbled under his breath, someone else who wasn't impressed with Nicky
"What was that? Didn't hear you Mark"  Nicky directed his glare at Mark now.
Mark simply shook his head  "I'm not getting into this, not here okay!"
"No, it's not okay, you have something to say, don't hold back!"
"Fine"  Mark looked him straight in the eyes  "I said that's a joke if I ever
heard one"
"What is?"
"How you don't mix business and pleasure"
"You what? What are you insinuating Mark?"
"Work it out Nicky"  He replied dryly
Nicky's blood boiled and went to push Mark, but Shane stopped him just in
time.  "Leave it Nic!"
"Why the hell should I!"
"Because, you won't achieve anything"
"He said I was cheating on Caz. He can't just stand there and say that!"
"I didn't say that"
"Not in so many words. I have never cheated on her. Never"
"Yet"  Mark replied as he walked away. Bryan smiled to himself and followed
Mark.
"What's his problem!"  Nicky said angrily. Kian shook his head  "I think the
question is what's your problem Nic"
Shane didn't know what to say. Nicky was his best friend, and while he could
see that Mark was right, he knew that wouldn't help matters by agreeing with
them all
